Tom Kavanagh is just amazing on The Flash, too  bad he is on TV else he should definitely have been in consideration for the movies.

Tom Kavanagh has always been a TV mainstay. I think the most notable movie he ever appeared in was...the Yogi Bear movie. lol.

Given the film's two years away and probably won't be shooting until next year, WB has plenty of time to find a replacement director, they managed to announce Patty Jenkins as director of Wonder Woman within short time after Michelle MacLaren's departure was announced

Yup, but the difference between the 2 cases is that MacLaren was officially announced as the WW director, including a WB press release and she had also started answering questions about it on the press tour for some show. They had even announced the departure in a joint statement.

Here, Seth was never announced by WB, even in the DC movies show on CW they mentioned James Wan directing Aquaman and never even mentioned anything about Seth Grahame Smith. I am guessing he wasn't finalized as the director yet.

Would he have made a good director? Maybe but we won't know now. Wonder if they might tap the Lego Batman director Chris McKay since he is familiar with the sandbox of characters.

I imagine Chris McKay is too busy finishing up Lego Batman to do a live action gig but then again Lord and Miller did 21 and 22 Jump Street around the same time they were doing The Lego Movie so perhaps it's doable. I know he's developing Metal Men but perhaps Barry Sonnenfeld might be a good replacement, he's can direct action and comedy and is good with visuals as evident with MIB

Good. Seth Graeme-Smith is primarily a writer, who wrote classics such as Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice Zombies. He is credited to have written the scripts for Dark Shadows and ALVH. And he did some uncredited rewrites on Fantastic Four.

I wouldn't want someone working on this movie who has a bad track record as far as live action movie scripts go, and on top of that is an untested first time director on a big budget tentpole film.

He has written the upcoming Batman Lego Movie, which looks amazing, but that's more due to the charm of the animation, some great scenes and hilarious voice work. Moreover, animation is very fluid so the director can change the script and dialogues dramatically to improve the movie.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Aquaman takes this spot, it sounds further along in development.

Well... technically WB haven't officially announced the dates for Flash and Aquaman, just that both are in 2018, we all assumed that Flash is March and Aquaman is July. WB officially confirmed Wonder Woman's release date just 2 months ago. So nothing stopping them from swapping the 2 movies if they want. Or even saying Aquaman is March, Batman is July and Flash is October.

In-ter-esting.  HR claims they're keeping SGS's script (though I'm sure it'll have at least a couple more "polishes").

Wouldn't it be truly ironic if WB/SGS now are fractured because they actually are responding to criticisms of BvS and indeed intend on making Flash significantly "tonally different" (i.e. lighter)?

I'd really like to see this dude do Beetlejuice 2...but the longer it goes on development, the less likely that is, too.
