So Disney  actually filed an application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to secure the phrase “Día de los Muertos,”  Lol that's kinda messed up. I have a bad feeling about the box office prospects of this film.

Of course not.  I never had high hopes, but after so many Pixar films in summer, I associate TGD and its failure with the return to November, for whatever reason.

This movie at least can market itself as being from the director of Toy Story 3 and aside from unfortunate cultural insensitivity from Disney's legal department it seems this hasn't had any similarly catastrophic production drama

Lol, seriously? That's as messed up as when the Fine Bros. of Youtube fame tried to trademark the word "react." 

 

As for B.O., anywhere between 230-300 sounds right depending on quality.

But safe to say the competition doesn't look anywhere near as intimidating as this year.

Disney Lawyers tried to trade mark a phrase in Spanish a while back. Nothing too severe

A few years ago there was a story about Disney trying to trademark "Dia de los Muertos", and the Vanity Fair article that just came out mentioned Unkrich being personally affected by the backlash

The backlash was well deserved.
