I'm thinking more like under $185m.

Yeah. Disney (like TGD and Moana) will probably give it a lot less marketing in favor of Thor and Jedi. Depending on how The Star looks it could outgross it. But still thinking $45M/$70M/$205M for this.

The Star won't beat Coco, It'll be lucky to do even half of what Coco does.

Many said the same about Sing beating Moana. Still think Coco will outgross it by $50M domestic, but it depends on how it looks.

I don't think any of the reaction shots in the trailer are actually triggered by the boy's presence, they've just been edited that way to make it clear in the trailer that he's in a foreign world.

Really? A few of them obviously are.

Sony Pictures Animation =! Illumination.

People keep on saying that, but I think that this trailer gave away a lot more meat than the comparable Inside Out trailer.

You talking about this one?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seMwpP0yeu4

Because it has a pretty similar happy-go-lucky tone and doesn't give much of a hint to how hard Riley's depression was going to hit.

More like outgross it by $100m. The Star isn't from Illumination, after all.

Well, I got my trailers mixed up. Looking back now, that trailer seems fair to me. It still presents Inside Out as an interesting movie.

He's not in the shot in either reaction (plus it didn't seem the others walking by on that orange bridge thingy thought much of him). I suppose the dog will be relied on for a lot of slapstick, though.

Illumination is a much bigger brand than SPA.

Still think Coco is going be over The Star ($180M-$225M > $85M-$170M) but it wouldn't be the first time a non Illumination animated film outgrossed a Pixar movie during the holiday.

Whatever you're comparing it to I don't think there's enough here to make a snap judgment on. It's not even 90 seconds long and has the awkward, shallow editing of a TV spot. It's certainly not going to be the final trailer.

Even then, I'd struggle to say that Sony Animation is up to par with Blue Sky.

The initial teaser for Brave is still probably my favorite thing from the entire project.

I might just be supporting your point saying this but even with that people were grumbling "Looks bland. Where's the story?". I don't think it's actually possible for Pixar to cut a trailer that everyone loves (unless they have low expectations like with Cars 3).
