IVAN'S CHILDHOOD is pretty good.

btw, I've made a horribly fatal error in my list, which is what happens when you sort by field without double-checking. Can anyone see what it is?

You left out Lawrence of Arabia?

Pfft, and of course you think Ivan's Childhood is good.

ivan's childhood is tarkovsky's second best film.

Which do you think is his best?

Ivan's Childhood is great, and this is the first (and hopefully the last) time I've seen it described as a "mess". What? There's nothing remotely complex or ambiguous about the story, it's direct and clear as day.

Yep, definitely Tarkovsky's most mundane movie.

solaris, but i need to see mirror again. nostalgia was breathtakingly beautiful but a bit too blunt religiously, stalker was also beautiful but too heavy on the dialogue, andrei rublev might be least favourite so far. very good, but didn't sit perfectly for some reason.

yet to see sacrifice, which i don't expect much of.

ivan's childhood is also undoubtedly tarkovsky's simplest film i've seen. wasn't a huge fan of it initially.

For 1960s there's only two ranks for me.

1. Lawrence of Arabia.

2.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Once Upon a Time in the West

2001: A Space Odyssey

Psycho

Planet of the Apes

The Guns of Navarone

For a Few Dollars More.

And probably a bunch more that I'm too lazy to list.
