Lionsgate Says ‘Divergent’ Could Play Like ‘Hunger Games’ Despite Key Differences

Unless Cameron offers SMELL-O-VISION with AVATAR 2, It's not doing more than 400M Plus ..  And YES, I'll bet AVATAR 2 doesn't do more than at best 425M Domestic ... You need to check into rehab if you think TA2 isn't going to make a dent in AVATAR 2's box office ... All Avatar tickets were in 3D. Avatar thread #6901

I'll be honest with you, I see Avatar 2 doing half of what the first did. Seriously, I think these sequels will start off below $400M and then just drop further.

it has potential:“Book sales of the Divergent franchise are approaching the 3 million mark and continue to compare favorably to The Hunger Games and Twilight franchises at a similar point in their trajectory,” said Feltheimer, according to transcript provided by Seeking Alpha.

I think what helps it is that a lot of its fans are also thg fans. the two fandoms overlap a lot.

I'm gonna say, watch out for this one. it has the most potential out of all the developing tween franchises.

Lol. That flaming ring logo poster. They're really trying hard to sell it as the new Hunger Games, aren't they?

Why are y'all always rooting for some paranormal romance twilight knock off???

These are the lowliest of stories and they thankfully usually fail. They are garbage as books - and translate very bad to cinema. Hope this here finds as much success as the last one, Beautiful Creatures.

Majority of the Divergent fans are Hunger Games fans so yeah, this won't do as good nor is the books that good.Ends on a cliffhanger so a sequel is almost for sure right now. It'll make enough to guarantee a sequel.

Great choices. Especially Christina.

I'm hearing Alexander Ludwig did a screentest for the film today.

Ludwig would be an awesome choice because Divergent Fraction are basically career tributes. Which is why the book and characters are less appealing. Career tribute-types (Triss, Four, etc) are far less relatable than survivalist Katniss&co.

Theo James is 28 years old. He'll be in his 30's by the time this series is over, and his character is 18. Ah, Hollywood.

And when you think there was brouhahaha over casting 20 years old JLaw as a 16 years old.

Theo James looks like blonde James Franco. And yes, he can`t pass for 18 years old.
