While no where as good as the first it is still fun. (I have this on par with part 4). Really enjoyed Davy Jones.A-

The worst Pirates film by far. Aside from the first five minutes and any scene with Davy Jones, the film fell so hard on its face. The sequence with Jack being captured by the natives in the island was just appalling. Not only was it agonizingly boring, but it didn't further the plot in any sense whatsoever. An absolutely dreadful sequence that really brought the film down. Very dull. Also, the back-stabbing was getting ridiculous and the jokes fell flat. Visually marvelous, though.

AWE had much more heart. The scene with Davy Jones and Calypso in the cellar as she places her hand over his heart is the most beautifully realized moment in the entire series. AWE is convoluted, make no mistake, but it's far more compelling and has a final battle that dwarfs DMC's climax.

I had to give this a B because I didn't have the B+/A- options. Love this movie, but the first and third are better. On par with OST, and that's good enough for me. DAVY JONES is classic.

The Sparrabeth kiss. The Jack Death Scene.The Babrossa Twist. The unexpected (but oh-so-welcome) Sawyer-isation of Norrington. The OTT Fights. The MoFo Kraken. The best mo`cap character ever.

 

This movie is a masterpiece.

AWE was such an abomination so for a huge fan of DMC such a smyself its existance will grate on my nerves forever. I hate that movie so very much.

Not on the level of the first in terms of quality, but its a near perfect summer blockbuster. It does tend to drag on a bit towards teh end for me. But the twist at the end with Barbosa was fantastic and my theater went crazy.
