It just occurred to me that list of names at the top from the cast (Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish) reads like a list of people Hollywood tried to make happen ten years ago and didn't particularly succeed (even if Butler did appear in a few box office hits).

this movie was actually a big hit. It made 200m worldwide on a 38 million budget.

Don't have them ham it up, just have them give a really scary, detached kind of performance, like someone who's completely broken from reality and wants everyone to die. And Gerard Butler's character has to somehow talk her down.

 

With the right villain this could actually be a good movie. Like not just popcorn fun good, but legitimately 70s on Rotten Tomatoes good.

 

What if the reshoots were to make The President revealed as the ultimate villain of the piece..."I was only trying to SAVE THE EARTH...by BUILDING A WALL AROUND IT!!"

 

Nah...it's gotta be Ed Harris.  You don't hire that guy for a simple "General" role...he's gotta have some great soliloquy at the end.  Probably basically reprising his role from The Rock.

90% sure this is gonna bomb domestically but I need it in my life yesterday. I'm a sucker for disaster movies, even the super-cheap SyFy ones. This kinda looks like it belongs on that channel to be honest.

An all catastophe movie would take lots of CGI and cost lots of money too so they need a cheap filler.
