Jerry is busy with POTC. Once he is done with the junket and all, he will be turning this into THE EVENT of the year. Dean Devlin will show roland emmerich how it's supposed to be done. Tbh Brad Peyton had already shown that to roland a year before IDR came out.

The plot before the reshoots

 

A satellite designer tries to prevent disaster when the world's climate-control satellites fail to function. Follows a stubborn but charming satellite designer who, when the worlds climate-controlling satellites malfunction, has to work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions. A trip into space follows, while on Earth a plot to assassinate the president begins to unfold.
