The Tadeo Jones sequel is fucking huge. I guess a 3rd one will be coming soon.

Yes, the third part is planned to be released in 2019.

Said this, and being huge, it is still lower than first part (€18.2m and 2.7m admissions)

I quote myself to bump the thread (2 months without a single post :( ), and to confirm that I have no idea about how Spanish BO works...  Tadeo Jones 2 is already over the first part in admissions (3.11m vs 2.76m). But the first part is still over in gross (€18.2m for the first part and €17.3m for the second one) because in 2012 prices were higher and 3D was still on fire.

And for "La Fiesta del Cine".

Some relevant grosses (by Jan 21st):

The Last Jedi: €20,924,106 (3,254,926 admissions). Coming from a 367k wknd (41% drop), it should end with about €21.5m ($26.7m), maybe a bit higher.

Jumanji: €9,018,911 (1,538,243). Last wknd was 657k (27% drop). It should go over €11m ($13.6m)

Murder on the Orient Express: €9,090,155 (1,435,402). The run is nearly done (60k last wknd). Remarkable gross.

Coco: €15,438,570 (2,595,802). Last weekend was 459k (-17%). It should reach €17m with ease ($21m).

Ferdinand: €7,415,126 (1,317,968). Last wknd was of 537k (-22%). It is sharing room with Coco and both are having great drops. This will go over €9m ($11.2m), maybe bordering €10m.

Perfectos Desconocidos: €17,998,123 (2,824,087). Local film. It is the phenomenon of the moment. It ranks second on its 8th weekend. Last weekend it has grossed €809k, dropping just a 17%. Following this kind of drops (previous weekend it just a dropped a 2%), it should gross another 3-4 million, having a chance to outgross Star Wars as the 2017 biggest film.

Since 2011, just in 2013 a Hollywood film was able to win the year. The rest of the years have been won by a local film:

2011: Torrente 4 (€19.35m) vs Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (€19.01m)

2012: The Impossible (€42.41m), 20 million over Hobbit 1

2013: The Hobbit 2 (€17.22m). There was not a local film among the top 15...

2014: Ocho apellidos vascos (€55.38m). Second biggest film ever behind Avatar

2015: Ocho apellidos catalanes (€35.48m) vs The Force Awakens (€33m)

2016: A monster calls (€26.15m). Well over Pets or Dory.

2017: Perfectos desconocidos (€22m???) vs The Last Jedi (€21.5m???)

I bring this because local films quota is quite low (about 15-20%, depending on the year), and it is surprising to see that in last 7 years, 6 have been won by a local film (asuming that Perfectos desconocidos will finally win). Maybe in other markets with a bigger local quota is a normal fact, but here is something a bit strange.

Some relevant grosses (by Feb 11th):

Fifty shades freed: €4,333,905 (634,251 admissions). A bit lower opening than previous entry. Maybe €12m final ($15m).

The greatest showman: €6,447,439 (1,068,191). Heading to €7m ($8.7m).

The Last Jedi: €21,453,386 (3,345,965). 21.5m-21.55m expected ending ($26.8m).

Jumanji: €11,205,028 (1,898,102). Finish €12m ($15m).

Coco: €16,635,636 (2,794,947). Finish 17.2m-17.3m ($21.5m).

Ferdinand: €8,693,728 (1,520,618). Finish 9.2m-9.3m ($11.5m).

Perfectos Desconocidos: €19,951,919 (3,134,082). Last weekend it has grossed €311k, dropping a 28%. I think it will not finally outgross Star Wars. I do not see enough boost to reach €21.5m. It will be close, though. Low 21m.

Absolutely incredible movie. It was released here in early February in theaters and it is already on Netflix and I decided to give it a watch and holy fucking shit.
