Reminds me of South Park Season 2, which aired its premiere episode on April Fool's Day and instead of addressing the Season 1 cliffhanger (who Cartman's Dad is) did a random episode of Terrence and Phillip saving Canada from Sadaam Hussein.

This is my new favourite programme, I can't wait till the new season starts next year!I've read all the books and love them (well except for A Feast for Crows). Any other Game of Thrones fans?

Fan since 1999; books are amazing, though the fourth book, and the first half of the fifth book, were a bit disappointing.As for the show, it's fantastic. My only wish is that the budget was bigger, so that battles and armies could be more fitting to where they are in the books (e.g, the Dothraki appear to be a small tribe, rather than a fantasy equivalent of the horde of Genghis Khan). But that's a small concern, and understandable given the constraints of TV show budget limitations. The characters and actors, for the most part, are superb.

I suspect it's an added scene - Littlefinger

meeting with Renly/the Tyrells, which isn't seen in the book, I imagine Cat is there to add drama.

That's essentially what I figured out

Littlefinger doesn't go on his diplomatic mission to the Tyrells until after Renly is murdered, so he would be heading southwest towards Bitterbridge (where the main Tyrell army and Margaery is) at about the same time that Catelyn is fleeing northeast from Storm's End with Brienne and her escort. I guess the two groups arrive at Bitterbridge at close to the same time and some diplomatic/personal shenanigans ensure.
