  1. Past hour
  2. Walkups and Late Ticket Sales and WOM. Gonna keep saying that over and over again.
  3. Seems pretty low overall, although likely a bad indicator of the "real" gross. I'm not really getting "breakout of the summer" vibes from it, though.
  4. Boy Kills World has sold practically nothing near me. That should be a sign as to what type of gross to expect from it.
  5. Feel like The Marvels has to take the cake for this now given how mightily it fell, though in retrospect the signs were certainly there (nearly half a decade being too long for a sequel to that movie in particular, MCU oversaturation and the heavy emphasis on characters from the Disney+ shows making watching the movie feel like homework - a Captain Marvel 2 without such strong connections to the D+ shows obviously doesn't do as well as the first movie regardless but definitely wouldn't have performed as terribly as it ultimately did with the "do your homework" vibe it carried).
  6. It sounds like Civil War made 10/11M INT last weekend (I don't have access to comscore but I poked around local language box office resources).
  7. I just saw this movie on saturday. I hadn't have this much fun in a cinema in ages. It may be my second favorite movie of the year (behind Dune Part 2). OW may not be huge, but the legs of this thing are gonna be wild. At least, I hope that's the case because Fall Guy deserves it. Btw, stay for the credits for this one.
  8. Yeah the major complaint I'm seeing is those multiverse portals. Yeah even the GA really doesn't dig multiverse . Know the whole concept is crutch susceptible to lazy writing and killing stakes but MCU really fucked it up the whole concept pretty bad . The whole thing got nonsensical from NWH but it's use was limited . It's mechanics in Loki season 1 were just nonsensical. That dumb infinity stones in drawer scene. TVA saying they see all things ,have all that power and outsmarted by one Loki variant at every turn . There whole existence makes Thanos and infinity stones feel like nothing Loki season 2 was amazing due to characters, visual and production design and music. Really cut down on the whole TVA timeline bullshit DS2 and the whole book of vishanti macguffin that's a magical book that solves everything was embarrassing and so lazy . Makes infinity stones look like nothing. Quantumania was just CGI monstrosity. Just gives the quantum realm, quantum poeple, ants becoming type 2 civilization in no time. The whole universe just starts to loose any sense of stakes or emotion. Complete clownery that is Kang . With the chatter I'm seeing . Excitement is due to Reynolds /Hugh Jackman team up and it being a Deadpool movie/fox X-Men related Than it being related to the MCU .

  13. I'm out in the western suburbs of Chicago and do unofficial checks in my area to get a vibe on how a movie is selling, and it's pretty low so far at the AMCs near me, but in Chicago itself it's selling stupid-well, with several Thursday and even Friday evening shows already 50%+ full. So it seems like there will be a bit of a divide in those markets for this. Hopefully good WOM spreads and helps give the suburbs a bump at some point?
  14. Is there a non-comscore source for nordic box office? I was trying to pull together a "civil war INT gross" post but struck out in this region
  15. Yeah Avatar 2 is just some of the biggest nonsense. It's extremely difficult to follow up such a zeitgeist type of movie and we're talking one of the biggest there is. Avatar 2 wasn't THE perfect run but disappointing? I don't even wanna hear such dilusion.
  16. This is another movie that could get some attention, Anonymous Content is a fairly prominent Oscar mainstay Lyna Khoudri Voices 'In Waves,' From Silex, Anonymous Content Charades (variety.com)
  17. Hoping for 20M for Challengers and 40M for The Fall Guy. I could live with a 30s opening but I think 40M would really be the definitive win.
  18. I thought it was summer 2022 and I was in the Avatar 2 thread for a second there.
  19. $5 tickets are live...but remember, they tend to help Friday and Saturday more than Thursday, b/c if it's $5 anytime, why not go on a weekend night:)...
  20. Updated as of April 23rd, 2024! Keynote: the opening weekend of Perfect Days has been bumped off the Top 100 DOM PTA's list.
  21. Someone pointed this out online: Logan being the fuckup that needs fixing while Deadpool relatively has his shit together is an interesting idea
  22. Yesterday the Japanese psycho thriller Perfect Blue was first with 107k euros at his first release ever in Italian theaters 👍
