  1. Jesus. These people are scraping the bottom of the barrel now. Wonder Woman had a 4x multiplier because of... a Harvey Weinstein story that broke 4 months after the film was released?!? Get a grip.

  2. Oh they’re out in force today lol. There’s no need to reboot the franchise. The reviews are great. I’m sure it will do wonders for HBO Max. We’ll get a subscriber boost update next week no doubt. Lots of comments being posted from people who haven’t even seen the film and have some sort of agenda. Lets not forget Wonder Woman (2017) is regarded as one of the best superhero films. And let’s not forget it had a 4x multiplier in the US, a feat not many other blockbusters have been able to achieve. You don’t get a 4 x multiple without incredible wor

  3. oh wow the people who spent the last two years saying that Patty's career in Hollywood would be over after this movie because of a allegedly bad screenings are on fire pretending that we don't live in a pandemic anymore. You really hate to see women winning in any circumstances. Btw, brazilian press is shocked at how she grossed BRL 8.5 million (1.7 million USD) here with the number of theatres available. São Paulo had 48 cinemas available and most of them were sold out this weekend (new corona cases are increasing a lot, biggest daily numbers since the mid year).

  5. She’s just spinning it to make it look like she was right now lol. “There WAS drama between Pedro and everyone which is why Mando Season 3 isn’t coming out Dec 2021 and Boba is filling the slot.” Blah blah blah. People like her will have a platform for a long time and it sucks

  6. Moderation @Chicago has been threadbanned for 72 hours for purporting a lot of sexist nonsense. @Firepower You are also on very thin ice at the moment, because it seems to me you're just here to troll. If you gentlemen don't like what this stuff, just a reminder that you don't have to post here. We aren't the only place on the Internet where you can talk about Wonder Woman.

  8. After spending this weekend pondering the episode, I have come to the final conclusion that this was one of the few instances of fan service done correctly and it kicked an unbelievable amount of ass.

  9. I would say hopefully that utterly crushes Grace Randolph’s “The Book of Boba Fett IS Mando Season 3!” bullshit, but she seems to have more lives than a cat with her followers... Glad to see it confirmed though, I’m happy to watch a Boba Fett spin off, but I wouldn’t have been happy if they were ditching Din Djarin.

  10. ´The world is mostly closed and the movie will be available online in a few days. It was easy to see coming since they announced their plans.

  11. This is looking like it's gonna finish with a sub-$200M worldwide total. Would've seemed crazy even back in early March that this would finish below Birds of Prey (which itself was considered a major underperformer), but that's 2020 in a nutshell for you. They should've just pulled a Fast 9 and delayed it a whole year once the shit was starting to hit the fan.

  12. 17.000 tickets sold here on OW with over half the country on lockdown in the weekend and popcorn being forbidden in movie theaters. The first one sold 44.000 tickets on OW. I was expecting far worse and now I am hoping that it shows some legs even with the movie dropping online this Friday. Unfortunately the situation with the lockdowns won't get better, especially in the New Years Weekend where 100% of the country will be on lockdown. Theaters will be closed from December 31 until January 3.

  14. Mank stank Wonder Woman 84 has a dumb plot but the stuff between pine and gadot was v. good. The latter's improved a lot since the first one. Was nice to be back in a cinema again.

  15. Again, you’ll never know. These aren’t normal circumstances and China know it’ll sadly be available to pirates in less than a week.

  16. Worth mentioning this only applies to independent theaters (not AMC/Regal/Cinemark) but still good news nonetheless. Pretty much all of the indie theaters around here (which almost exclusively play specialty fare and older-skewing mainstream titles) have been closed since March, likely in large part because it's been easier to save up that way (but also because there's no movies and the crowds that usually attends them are unable to show up due to the risk).

  22. ^^^ We’ll get a bunch of new markets this weekend that will almost assuredly receive it much better than China. That’s probably what it’s better to focus on at this point — especially for people who are really rooting for it.

  24. I second this. There is also the factor that box office is not recovering in the immediate future. The outlook for all or most of next year is not looking good. Will theaters rebound in the second half of 2021? Will they rebound to previous levels at any point in the next few years? We don't know. The only possible way WB was going to avoid losing money on WW84 was to delay it for an indefinite amount of time until it could make that 800M or more globally that the first film did. I don't think anyone really knows when that will become a realistic possibility. Plus, there are risks

  25. It will do well in Australia at least. Gold Class (expensive) tickets are selling particularly well, to the point where most of them should either sell out or be close to selling out on Boxing Day.

  26. Wonder Woman 1984 $97,558,000 (US$3.46mn) opening weekend. Good start. Demon Slayer $8.65mn (US$300K) 8th weekend. Total now $572mn (US$20.05mn). 40% drop is quite good IMO with big release of WW84. Weekday holds should be better. Next week may see growth or flat at least. $600mn is possible. Demon Slayer Week 1: $166.19mn Week 2: $143.81mn (-13.5%) Week 3: $99.45mn (-30.8%) Week 4: $63.17mn (-36.5%) Week 5: $43.99mn (-30.4%) Week 6: $28.01mn (-36.3%) Week 7: $18.75mn (-33.1%) 8th Weekend: $8.65mn (-40%)

  27. Agreed. A reboot with a new director/actress in a few years would be great, but I guess Gadot won't leave the role anytime soon.

  28. I keep seeing clips of it on Twitter and it gives me a serious lump in my throat every time. The music in that scene was perfect. On my first viewing I was riding the high of “you know who” appearing, but on rewatch, THAT scene absolutely wrecked me.

  32. No amount of marketing could save this movie in the US and Europe. Most of those countries are closed. My God, why is that so hard for people to grasp? The decision to sacrifice this movie to streaming was the original sin in this whole fiasco.

  33. That’s why it’s optimistic. It would need to lean on a breakout in OS markets that are more recovered than US. E.g. 300 China, 450 OS-C, 250 DOM could get it done, but is not very likely. This part is just pure nonsense. Corona will be over by Aug or so and not have another wave.

  36. and changed some details to .... arrrgh I ignore the sentimental parts of the movie, but whhhhyyyy (overly dramatic outcry) did you add that despicable scene? It’s the most illogical and IMHO stupid scene of the whole movie. Like they got adopted by American missionaries, had their American aunt as nanny with them, why the heck would they not speak English? Still drives me bonkers
