  2. People keep touting “normalcy” as if that’s a thing in 2020. Let’s be real. Negative numbers get far more attention than the positives on this forum, unsurprising. I’ve seen two posts max about the great Australia numbers. Anyway, now we know it’s the biggest PVOD film of the year and the biggest opening of the pandemic era. The end.

  4. DEADLINE'S MOST VALUABLE BLOCKBUSTER - CAYOM 3.0 EDITION Ladies and gentlemen, before any further ado, we would like to wish you a happy 2021, where all of your wishes or goals come true, hopefully. And wishes/goals is something that every film studio aspires to fulfill. Surely that one of the main goals that CAYOM's talented filmmakers reach for is to create cinema of the highest quality, but, among other things, they also want to make money - film, besides being an artform, is also a business. With that, we here at Deadline are extending our Most Valuable

  5. Hahaha! Don’t ruin your reputation on this. First, I knew it wasn’t doing badly in both countries because you haven’t posted any negatives in either countries’ threads. Next, it’s possible that it may equal the first WW’a total in India. In Korea, it has stayed number one despite some COVID restrictions. Thank goodness, I follow some others in the know on Twitter like Luiz Fernando.

  7. Oh geez, you go on a hike for an hour an this is what happens. It’s been doing badly in a fairly boring, not worth commenting on much way, not an “OMG this is excitingly shockingly bad” way like China. Luiz Fernando, respectfully, is putting some serious spin on and not a great source for how it’s actually doing. Also FWIW my personal feelings on the movie aren’t nearly as low as Jat’s. I’m quite surprised by the rotten because it felt like the sort of medium movie that ends up 65-75ish to me.

  8. WW was only English release in India, did ₹32cr or $5mn on IIRC 400 screens. WW84 has so far done ₹11.5-12cr Approx ($1.5mn) in 7 days on 1700 screens, will probably do ₹17-18cr in full run. It was expected to do ₹70cr ($10mn) in normalcy. This is what I said in India thread. Who else will be on top? It's only film running on 2k screens there. Today on New Year's eve, it sold 27,430/749,773 admits. That's 3.65% occupancy on New Year's eve. It did so bad, we didn't even track in Korea after OD. @WandaLegion I think tracked till XMAS.

  9. Ad hominem! States nothing about nothing. Just attacks and opinions on a movie you don’t like. That’s fine. We all have our opinions. Facts are that the verdict on this movie’s performance at the box office and to a greater extent streaming are still to be determined. . I don’t care about the RT score past opening week. Hardly no anyone does.

  11. At last they've put the numbers up! WW84 looking very good 11m already and 6.5m for The Croods 2. As long as the current clusters can be controlled, and I feel sort of increasingly confident that they will be, they should play well through the school holidays.

  14. You don't even need to try. The South Korea thread on forum is the best place for Korean box office on English internet. No need to follow the idiot who is telling you that a film just having 3.7% occupancy is "dominating" box office.

  15. As Y9 slate begins, Daniel Chong (We Bare Bears) and Kevin Lima (Tarzan, Enchanted) step on stage as they talk about their next film. Lima notes that Endless Animation has dying for a crack at another musical and they took inspiration from one of the most magical and chaotic places on Earth: New York City. Chong notes like Super Mario Bros, it also is a story about immigration. Chong reveals the title as Downtown. Lima says that New York City is not just home to humans but also is the dimensional platform between Earth and the magical realm home to all man made myths from pixies, m

  16. Lauren MacMullan (The Simpsons Movie, Academy Award winning Get A Horse!) makes her directorial debut with The Untitle-able Squirrel Girl Sequel. MacMullan thanks the crowd for the applause as she notes the trouble production behind Squirrel Girl, noting the sequel was originally a musical focused on Dana but the plot was messy and too complicated. MacMullan noted the mixed reception of Should You Imagine? sent the crew scrambling to rewrite, and she was bought in to direct, and bought on the writer of the Squirrel Girl comics, Ryan North to help with the script. North noted the best idea was

  17. Matthew A. Cherry steps onto the stage as he talks about the lack of diversity in Hollywood, and was glad that Endless Animation decided to take a chance on Meeka. Meeka is the first CAYOM animation with an all black cast and all black crew. Cherry notes that Meeka has an impressive crew of black filmmakers, including Everett Downing (Hotel Transylvania 2) as the co-director, and writing the script alongside Cherry is animated television guru Ian Jones-Quartey (Steven Universe, O.K. KO: Let’s Be Heroes) and Black Women Animate head, Taylor K. Shaw. Cherry notes all three have directing project

  18. But box office have not been bad in Korea and India. In fact, they’ve been good so far. At the end of the day, that’s the biggest factor in the studio’s consideration for a sequel. In fact, all the metrics are geared toward gauging and promoting profitability. WW84 is already the most streamed movie of 2020. It’s box office has been fine for a opening in a global pandemic. The most determinative aspect is still unknown though. Let’s see how many subscriptions HBOMAX was able to garner for the movie. If it’s significant, then they’ll be happy and move on to planning WW3. If it isn’t, then perha

There was not a dream that turned out the way the person really wanted for good... I got the "nothing good ultimately comes from these wishes"...and then, you paid a price, too...

  28. “Those people” (the usual suspects) are claiming it’s something to do with Steve’s return in the film. A reach. They’re just spouting whatever nonsense they can now. It’s an homage to 80’s romcoms, such as Heaven Can Wait, but that is over their heads.

Thurop Van Orman steps on the stage, humorously wearing a school uniform that doesn’t fit him, as he announces the next project for Y8, Naughty Little Monsters which was formerly known as Naughty!, it’s the second film in Endless Animation’s partnership with Laika as well as stop motion animated. Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) will executive produce as Dan Harmon (Community, Monster House) and Alex Hirsch (Starlight, Gravity Falls) will help write the script with Orman. 31. Here in Tyrol, christmas celebrations didn't have much of an impact it seems - numbers are higher now but that's mostly late reporting as everywhere; the virus DNA levels in Innsbruck's sewage water didn't increase (gets monitored on 4 positions). Let's hope it stays that way, new-year celebrations are forbidden (in fact, there's even a kind of curfew but that's hard to control given all the exceptions). The free testing sites did probably help, here in Innsbruck everyone can get free tests as often as one likes, it lasts no longer than 10 minutes - nearly everyone I know got teste

  32. I am not sure giving vaccine based on the risk group order is an efficient way to distribute vaccine. Shouldn't the vaccine be given to socially active group first that contribute to the high r factor? We have to reduce the number of infection in order to keep mutation risk in check too,...pull down the fatality rate is only making people less vigilant and more ignorant to the severity of the crisis.

Charlie’s late in the day numbers are also pretty reliable, so I think a lot of daily threads the past 2-3 weeks or so have been started based on them.
