  2. Venom 2 Saturday Finish MTC1 - 502820/1208161 7058245.78 6694 shows WOW WOW. I thought I was being overly optimistic when I mentioned 500K or $7 million this morning but Venom 2 crossed both thresholds. If you extrapolate from yesterday it means 31.75m saturday for Venom 2!!!! Unfortunately I dont have MTC2 number. But it wont be outlandish considering RTH just mentioned 31m. Edit: MTC share should go down today. So can it hit 32m+ :-) Of course it requires all big MTC to grow at similar level. Wont be easy at MTC2 considering how big it was yesterday. So I feel i

  9. Didn't get to see Frankenstein, but I'm with you on Dracula. The big issue I have is the lack of a score, because it makes things way more stilted than it should be. I do like the atmosphere and Bela Lugosi however, it's no wonder his performance would be the blueprint for decades to come. I got it yet again at Newark this past Friday. The silent reactions from a crowd of 35-40 year olds was very amusing. We didn't ban EmpireCity for being right. We banned him because he was being a dick. Being right doesn't give you any excuse to be disrespectful to others or the

  18. Yep. Sassy anti-hero who does gory stuff in a comical PG-13 way that doesn't scare but always entertains, has quotable lines, is a meme machine, and his bromance with Eddie is endearing af. You cannot help but cheer him.

  20. Before Feige stepped in the last Spider-man movie from Sony was ASM2. Now ya'll ready to throw the 23 billion dollar man under the bus now that he helped Sony recover their only mega franchise. And whoever made the deal that Sony could keep Marvel's flagship character hostage indefinitely needs a swift kick in the balls. What happened to 6 to 10 year contracts?

  21. i think Venom is not so good, but i do hope this gives Sony the strength to cut ties with Disney , so they make their spidey movies in their own universe , though they need to retire the peter parker version for a little while

  25. With how crazy Venom's opening is and how big October is looking to be overall, the holiday box office is looking to come back roaring, at least when it comes to the IP-based tentpoles (whether anything else will catch on remains to be seen).

  28. Some good details from Deadline "Comscore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak shows that only 19% of the audience bought their tickets in advance (by either a week or month ago), indicating that Venom 2 received a bulk of walk-up business. Sixty-six percent of those who watched the Sony sequel bought their ticket day of, while 15% bought their tickets the day prior. On PostTrak, they enjoyed the movie at 4 stars."

  29. My current estimaties 1065-1075 mln RUB or $14.6-14.8 mln. 3rd or even 2nd opening weekend ever after Infinity War and maybe The Lion King. Best Saturday ever. $31-32 mln with 2013 exchange rates.

  30. Halloween Kills (Thursday) Cinemark: (32) 730 (23), 1015 (9) AMC 7 (43) Extremely solid so far. But no PLF for this? Halloween 18 was XD and IMAX. That might prevent it from the 70+ but I still think 50+ is good

  31. Venom D3 PS End MTC1 - 98319/1057611 1331472.15 5693 shows I think this is more about walkups. Night time shows will drop but day time will hold. i feel its drop will be better than norm during early October. Joker dropped 24.9% but that was a juggernaut. Tomorrow's BO will tell us if its anywhere close.

  32. I am so happy for V2! My ex who is also my son’s idiotic father took him to see the first one. I was sort of pissed off because I thought the content would be too much for a child to handle. I mean, who thinks it’s appropriate for a child to watch an alien eating heads? But he loved it. It was all he could talk about for a week and he really wants to see a Venom v Spidey movie. He hasn’t seen this one yet, but is excited about it. Kudos to Sony, Tom Hardy and all involved.

  34. Venom 2 has proven to be hardly any more frontloaded than its original, at least in terms of preview grosses. Share of opening-day from previews was 31.1% for Venom 2 vs 30.8% for the original. Likewise, share of the weekend gross from previews was 12.9% for Venom 2 vs 12.5% for the original. The latter seems particularly impressive given the original Venom benefited from the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday on the Monday. Venom is (correct me if I'm wrong) one of the few comic book franchises that isn't tied to a wider universe, at least explicitly - which is probably in
