  1. Yes I hate the father already. The mother is crazy but the father is just scary as hell. And yes I'm loving it so far. And did you happen to see at the very beginning in the credits? Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg produced this. I'm so glad you mentioned it because I'm really enjoying it so far. It's not scary so far but it's just creepy as hell.
  2. @CJohn this movie has definitely got original Halloween vibes to it. It takes place in Holden field and the city and Halloween was haddonfield. There was even some framing at the beginning where the little kid kind of look like young Michael Myers from the original Halloween at the very beginning.
  3. @CJohnbuddy I found the movie cobweb here on Amazon Prime in canada. I'm ordering a pizza and then I'm going to watch it. I'll give you my thoughts on it later, I hope it's as good as you say it is 🙂
  4. I'll never understand why anybody would want to see a movie about dogs being abandoned by their owners. As a dog lover, that just makes me want to cry even thinking about that. And now theres supposed to be a funny animated movie where dogs take revenge on owners who have abandoned them? Yeah that's a very very hard pass for me.
  5. That's Me with about 50% of the hit movies out there lol. I don't get the appeal of them.
  6. I'll never understand why anybody will ever listen to any critics when it comes to horror movies.
  7. Eddie Murphy was a giant in the 80s. And BHC and its sequel still make me laugh to this day 🤣
  8. There will be blood is blessed with an amazing performance by an amazing actor. But the movie itself is definitely enough to cure insomnia. It's one of the most boring snooze fests I've ever seen.
  9. I told you guys that Monday was a little bit stronger than normal because of the Canadian holiday. I also mentioned that the Canadian box office is usually good for 5-10% of the overall North American box office. It is reflective in some of the numbers especially Oppenheimer where it was very very highly attended yesterday here especially in imax..... Not that I looked into all of the Canadian box office yesterday but I know in the greater Toronto area there were sellouts yesterday for openheimer even as early as 2:00 p.m.
  10. All right I'm going to stand up for the king's speech. It's weird because usually I don't like that kind of movie so to speak. But that movie really resonated with me and I enjoyed the performances immensely and I thought it was a deserving best picture winner.
  11. @Cap I have never heard anybody say that Tommy Lee Jones is performance was just fine. You say that his performance was like everything else he's ever done, but that's because everything else came after the fugitive. I think his performance in The fugitive is one of the all-time great performances in the history of film. He had so many nuances so many great ways of delivering lines and he made me laugh quite often. I just don't like Shakespeare in love. Even before it beat out saving Private Ryan I just didn't like it. I didn't like the script I didn't like Gwyneth Paltrow there was just nothing about the film that I enjoyed. It's such an overrated piece of dung LOL, now I haven't seen it probably since 1998 so maybe I'll give it a rewatch and I'll come back and let you know what I think. But this just goes to show that even the most beloved actors and performances or an Oscar winner for best picture can be viewed by two different people and two completely different ways.
  12. And if we can talk Oscar snubs not just Best picture winners, Spielberg being snubbed for Jaws is probably the all-time greatest academy middle finger, but really close behind at least in my opinion is Val Kilmer not being nominated for doc Holliday in 1993. Tommy Lee Jones was definitely a deserving winner that year but to not even have doc Holliday's performance nominated is an absolute freaking joke.
  13. I don't think I've ever seen the worst Best picture winner than Shakespeare in love. It's another fine example of Harvey Weinstein buying a Best picture winner
  14. I know we're going old school and back in the day, there was nothing better than Halloween in 1978. John Carpenter crushed it should have won best director for sure.
  15. And what exactly do you base this on? There really aren't that many gigantic blockbusters that were nominated for Best picture after 2008. Endgame never got it. If you're basing this on the fact that top gun Maverick got a nomination that's one film. Beyond Avatar and top gun there's no precedent to say that Barbie's going to get a Best picture nomination just because it grossed a lot of money.
  16. Yes but there's also another way of looking at that. If Barbie has IMAX then it's going to lose other theaters. And also if it has IMAX are people willing to pay the astronomical amount of money to go watch it in imax? There's a reason why Avatar and the sequel were so IMAX friendly. Those movies were made for IMAX and made for 3d. People were willing to pay the IMAX and 3D prices because they knew they were getting something in those formats that would be beneficial to the movie. I don't see any reason why Barbie would do well in 3D and I really don't see a reason why you would need to see it on imax. Sure it would make extra money if it had IMAX but there's no guarantees it would pass Avatar in admissions.
  17. I can't believe some of you guys are arguing over the minutiae of Barbie's box office. Maybe you shouldn't be looking at it in a microcosm but more of a macro. This movie is going to crush 600 million dollars dom, it's going to destroy 1.2 billion dollars. And you're arguing over percentage points about what it drops compared to last Monday or how big this third Monday is in comparison to others and so on and so forth? I'm not saying I'm not guilty of doing this myself in the past but it's really silly when you look back on it.
  18. I don't think any of us are saying it's going to make a massive difference but there were still plenty of government jobs that were off yesterday including Banks bus drivers post office workers and so on. So it'll make a small difference.
  19. Fugitive I think it's going to go down as a timeless classic. I think you could probably watch that film 30 years from now it will still be as perfect as it is today and is perfect as it was in 1993.
  20. Dave is another forgotten gem from 1993. Ving Rhames even has a small role in it and this is pre pulp fiction. I think he even has hair LOL
  21. So yesterday probably half of Canada was off as it was a civic holiday. I know our box office only contributes between 5-8% of the overall number but it'll be very interesting to see how much the holiday in Canada inflated the numbers?
