  1. You are absolutely right. I let Deadline deceive me once again: Final Chapter has already become the highest grossing Resident Evil in Japan with $25M-plus. http://deadline.com/2017/01/rogue-one-hidden-figures-underworld-blood-wars-weekend-box-office-1201879773/
  2. $20M+ so far just from Japan. This might end the series with a very decent performance. Bodes well for a reboot!
  3. Yeah, it's pretty great, actually. Even with something like $100M WW Sony will make a decent profit out of this, which is more than what it can be said for Awackening ($160M WW out of $70M budget). With Blood Wars they are not even trying to reach an audience out of their core fanbase, but I doubt they would invest these profits into a bigger sixth entry. Maybe they should create some related products like comic books.
  4. Resident Evil is also ending in a matter of weeks. Though it was never a question, was it? At least box office wise.
  5. Isn't the third film (the prequel without Kate Beckinsale) generally accepted as the worst one?
  6. Is Prometheus' budget much higher than Covenant's? The latter really looks cheaper comparing trailers, or maybe it's because the work on Prometheus' VFX of were more advanced by the time this trailer was released? Also, my god, that's such a fantastic trailer.
  7. I believe in the comic version Lambert is clearly raped. In the movie it's...vague, but some people see the fact that her body is found with no pants a definite sign that it happened. Then there is this deleted scene And the fact that xenomorphs are frecuently seen as giant metaphors of male lust because of their physical appearance. I personally think it's vague, but once you start thinking about it, you can't not see it.
  8. Really happy for Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys (though the fact The Americans didn't get a best drama nomination is probably a sign that they don't have any options) and for Ryan Reynolds.
  9. Really great interview. Now I'm sure this will have as much character work as Dawn, as they will explore the psychology of Caesar and the main villain in a world that's immersed in an extreme situation. I really can't wait for it. And yeah, some mild spoilers about how they are connecting to the original films, so don't read if you don't want to know anything. My bet:
  10. Because when they tried to do something actually different people went "but we want the same script over and over again!"
  11. Warner should focus the marketing on kids and families on the following weeks, especially Thanksgiving.
  12. How has this gone from looking the cheapest film in the franchise since with the first one to be the biggest of all? Great trailer, and it finally gives this something distinctive over the others: an all-out war between vampires and lycans. I'm totally excited now.
  13. The whole dirt aesthetic looks very unappealing to me. Retribution was bad, but at least the visual style was great. I wish they would spend most of the time in the original lab.
  14. This is a much better trailer than the first one. The movie itself looks more expensive now, with bigger set pieces. Now I'm fully on board with this.
  15. And 4 has you running away from a giant statue come to life, and fighting monks in a dungeon with lava. I do agree that RE4 still has some charm and identity that was missing from 5, though, but it's a mainstream action game through and through.
  16. Yeah I like the concept, but the execution is strange. Her face looks way too unnatural and her chest should be wider in that position (it could be a visual effect given by the contrast between her vest and the coat, though).
  17. Paramount has really been incompetent when it has come to marketing the anniversary and this film.
  18. I like the story, but having so many weapons takes away the supernatural feel of it. That and the new unknown cast additions (the new Lycan leader for example) take it back to the budget days of Underworld 1.
  19. Yeah, THR's review was encouraging. Emma Thompson is apparently very good. So far 100% fresh on RT with 9 reviews...which is nothing, but I feel like if it was going to be panned, there would have been a rotten review in the pack already.
  20. No, the last one (Resident Evil 6) got horrible reviews, but it's the second best selling entry in the franchise, with 6+ million copies sold. The more recent HD remasters of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero, and the new Resident Evil Revelations 2 have also sold well.
