CloneWars replied to CJohn's topic in Box Office Discussion
Going back to the horror roots of the original. This looks like a modern rebootish take of the original -
Madame Web (2024) Spoiler Thread
CloneWars replied to Eric Atreides's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I haven't skipped a Marvel movie since Iron Man....so, should I skip this? I'm seriously considering it. -
96th Annual Academy Awards nominations thread
CloneWars replied to filmlover's topic in And The Winner Is...
I think Williams over Joe Hisashi is the biggest upset. Literally, Williams is rehashing the old Indy score and Hisashi gives us an incredible score, perhaps his best since Princess Mononoke. Why the fuck is Williams nominated for like the 100th time or whatever it is. Barbie missing BD is to be expected. -
I am a huge MCU fan. I have seen every MCU movie opening previews/midnights when those existed. However, the social media embargo is alarming. I honestly can see this making less than The Flash and being the lowest MCU film, Domestic at least. All signs are pointing to this bombing. At least, they didn't hype it up and put up a massive marketing campaign like The Flash. Seems like they are cutting their losses.

WGA/SAGAFTRA Strike Discussion Thread | SAG Ratifies Contract
CloneWars replied to Eric Atreides's topic in The Speakeasy
Sure, but Walt Disney was also one of the greatest creative geniuses of all-time from his films to the idea of bringing his creations to life by creating Disneyland. Only a handful of people alive today have the genius Walt had. -

I see where they're coming from, but AI has zero imagination. All they will get is boiler plate scripts, and that may work for say children's television, but you aren't going to get anything remotely creative. -
WGA/SAGAFTRA Strike Discussion Thread | SAG Ratifies Contract

So take this for what you will, but I talked to a studio insider, and they very much believe AI will be able to write screenplays, and they have no need for writers. Now this is bullshit because AI lacks creativity, but the insider felt otherwise. I feel this is the thinking of many studio heads. Until studio heads realize ChatGPT can't write good screenplays, the WGA strike at least has no end in sight. Also, the insider told me they are calling it Machine Learing now because of the connotation calling it AI has. I mean, most people know machine learning and AI are the same, but whatever. At they very least this particular studio believes AI can do more than it actually can. Anyway, I won't say names, but I can tell you the studio isn't Netflix. -
This storyline should have been an actual Avengers movie like the comic. This show is just outright boring. They should have scraped it when the scripts started coming in, but I guess at the time, they had to meet the Disney+ quota. Well, hopefully, they really do cut down on the shows and focus on 1-2 quality shows per year and maybe 1-2 one-shots

Considering ChatGPT and other AI stuff hasn't even been available for a year really shows just how impactful AI is and will be, and we're in the infancy stages of AI right now. -
This is a truly bold marketing campaign, and I love it, especially if this truly is Miyazaki's last film. It probably is because of his age. Has there ever been a film by a big name director where all they give is a title and the directors name? Anyone know how this is tracking in Japan, and if the numbers are good or bad?

What happened this weekend? The Flash number is outright bad. Elemental is bad but Chapek fucked over Pixar and now the brand has some value lost, so I get its gross. But, damn, The Flash had Keaton Batman and could only muster $55M OW. Shit. I will say this, the multiverse really sucked here vs. what was done in Loki, NWH, and the Spider-Verse films. If you're going to do the multiverse, at least do it right. I guess DC being rebooted also plays a role here.

The Disney Thread | Iger will be with us until 2026
CloneWars replied to A Marvel Fanboy's topic in Box Office Discussion
Cultural Battle??? You mean standing up for LGBTQ and trans rights. Well, excuse me if you think that's a nail in the coffin for Disney. Now, that I got that off my chest, there was a study that found 71% of Americans and 89% ages 18-29 support LGBTQ rights. Supporting trans people and gay people is not some far ultra left agenda. And maybe they've lost some supporters, but it's like coming out against racism in the 60s and losing money from racists. At some point, you have to take a stand, and it's better to be on the right side of history. -
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 WEEKEND THREAD
CloneWars replied to Eric Atreides's topic in Numbers and Data
A final gross between Guardians 1 & 2 would be solid. And despite all the doomsayers on this board, MCU is still doing really good. Phase 3 just spoiled everyone and set unrealistic high BO expectations.
