  1. Probably dropping out of the top 15 after being in the top five three weeks ago. I figuratively came in my pants on this one.
  2. Eh, the Shining is one of the greatest horror novels ever written, I doubt with a great director it'd be "just another torture porn"
  3. Finished the third season of Breaking Bad yesterday, trying to catch up before August 11th. Show is everything it was hyped up to be and more.
  4. Agreed completely. It's such a brilliant and poignant and important movie I feel like I need to tell everyone to watch it, but it's so heartbreaking and tragic I feel bad doing so. I still feel like shit hours later.
  5. The most tragic, heartbreaking, and gutwrenchingly sad film that I've ever watched. First film to get me misty eyed in years. It's brilliantly made on every level, but I'll just let Gopher sum it up because it's too hard of a film for me to talk about. Also, if there's five better lead actor performances than Michael B Jordan this year, it's the greatest year for acting in easily a decade. Give that man his nomination. A
  6. Just got back from Fruitvale Station, which was the most expertly made and compelling film of the year, but it's so tragic and heartbreaking that it isn't a movie you want to write or think about. Just an absolute tragic story. Every person in the theater had at least misty eyes by the end of it, including myself. I see Oscar Grant in alot of my friends. Just....God, it's tough to talk about. I highly recommend it, but damn. Cheer me up guys!
  7. Iron Man 3 wasn't even a serious superhero movie and I don't know how if could be considered one if it didn't have Iron Man in the title. It was a farce comedy with remote controlled suits.
  8. Maybe we'll have it at Shawn's SECRET UNDERGROUND LAIR!
  9. Maybe we'll have it in Geneva just so it feels really official. Would that be better?
  10. One day we're gonna be big enough to have it.....one day.
  11. Honestly, if I ever meet Tele when we start having our annual box office conference, it's gonna be a heart break that he doesn't actually look like that. Maybe he can wear the headdress, just for old times sake.
  12. A profile picture can work wonders. Tele, for example. Every time he posts, I imagine Peter O'Toole in full Lawrence of Arabia garb sitting at a computer talking to us. And if that doesn't make you want to respond, what will?
  13. It also helps that they made a good enough movie that, while not near as good as FC, kept the momentum going and has made up for Origins and Last Stand.
  14. First Class is in my top five superhero movies. Can't wait for DOFP
  15. I really want to see what Prisoners does with Jackman as the main selling point. I think he's an underrated box office superstar, but it's hard to tell with his main hits being X-Men related or Les MIs.
  16. It's not that it became too superhero-y and action-packed in the final act- that's fine. It's just that the final battle scene literally felt exactly like an outtake from Origins after a movie that so far had been so much better and more intelligent.
  17. Most sequels don't follow up Origins, and the franchise is stating to get a little fatigued in terms of numbers, so it wouldn't shock me at all that it's a little less frontloaded. I expect 65-70 based on this number right now
  18. This isn't necessarily true at all for two reasons. One being that Origins was absolutely loathed so being a sequel actually may have HURT it, and more importantly, this is a FIFTH sequel in a franchise not based on books. People aren't going to rush out to see that necessarily. People had waited for years to see CA and Thor on the big screen for the first time.
  19. Gopher hit the nail on the head- it's pretty much what Captain America and Thor did, and it's reasonable to expect a very similar OW
  20. Well, that number is pretty much solid and expected and could be interpreted to mean good things for anybody's prediction, good or bad. Let's see how this discussion plays out....
  21. baumer, we usually see relatively eye to eye.......but man, Chernobyl Diaries is probably in my bottom ten films ever. Easily the worst film of last year, IMO. But to each their own.
