  1. It had alot of potential (Harmony is a good director) and it occasionally hits some nice high notes, but it never fully connected with me. It was just TOO much alot of times, and it used such unrealistic extremes that it could never land with me (maybe because I've seen every Florida spring break for years- it's never like that). Franco is pretty great, though
  2. I enjoyed this alot. The last 15 or 20 minutes or so get a bit over-the-top and draggy and I had to suspend my disbelief for the whole robbery/jaunt in the woods scene, and there is a few times where it is a bit OVERdirected. But otherwise, I thought it was brilliant. Exceptionally shot and scripted, and I've been thinking about it for a while now. Acting was awesome- Cooper and Cooper's son impressed me the most, and Gosling, Mendelsohn, and especially Liotta impressed the hell out of me. A-

  7. Both are obviously very beautiful, but I'm way, way more attracted to Olga than Andrea. Olga 's just way more my type.
  8. One of my favorite books, but the movie didn't thrill me as much. This may seem sacreligious (no pun intended), but I would love to see a modern remake.

  10. The Hobbit had the most walk outs I've seen in a movie theater behind Movie 43 and Evil Dead. The bunny rabbit sled scene made two of my friends walk out alone.
  11. Wait, the Hobbit had an A+ cinemascore? I'm not even a hater like that, but no freaking way is that possible.
  12. I've got 34, for now. If Oblivion hadn't done as well I'd be predicting even higher. This is assuming a relatively high TC, of course.
  13. I wouldn't doubt it. Pain and Gain will skew younger and more diverse, but white male action fans are still going to turn up, and they made up quite a bit of Oblivion's audience.
  14. 38 million is indeed rather impressive for Oblivion- with international business, it should make enough money to not be a disaster. I predicted only 30 million for it, due to the lack of buzz. For reference, most of the crowd when I saw it yesterday was older white men, so that may explain why the buzz was underestimated- that's the toughest demographic for me to get a hold on.
  15. 1. Man of Steel (Star Trek's might be a little better, but for the hype this one generated for MOS, it's way more impactful, so I put it at one) 2. STID 3. THG: CF 4. Lone Ranger 5. R.I.P.D
  16. I liked it more than I expected to. The obviously great visuals go without saying, but I think the script was better than the reviews made it out to be. Some good themes, and the dialogue never made me cringe. The performances were good too. Overally, it made for an enjoyable experience. However, the main flaw was just what I thought it would be from the first trailer- it was a bit lifeless. Absolutely no humor, and while it had a good score and cinematography, they never really clicked with me on an emotional level until the very end. With a bit more heart, it could have been truly fantastic. But it lacked the great shots and chemistry to elevate it to that level. 7.5/10

  18. Wow, color me stunned by that Oblivion opening. Anything over 35 is incredibly impressive. It's probably playing better with older audiences, because there is zero, nada, zip buzz among people my age.
  19. I'm not too fond of animated films, but TS3 was brilliant. Not Finding Nemo brilliant, but first Monsters Inc. brilliant, yes. The three best Pixar films since 2000, IMO
