Lion King is expected to be one of the biggest in Germany this year. Should not compare H&S with that. this is good number for most movies. I doubt TS4 will come close to that. it also looks like beating spiderman.

high RT, great audience reception, good legs. Awful record for Nolan!!! No director works for everyone. if you dont like his style good for you. I found several well reviewed Marvel movies MEH(including the 2 Spidey movies recently). But I will not call them failures. Nolan is batting 1.0 from overall. Just go to twitter or any social media/forum to see the excitement from showing almost nothing. he is the biggest director in hollywood who can inspire such confidence without making franchise movies.

it should have good legs. How is the competition. I know Toy Story 4 is opening soon but this movie can co exist with TS4 and that wont be huge anyway. Any other major release?

This seem bread and butter for Nolan. He cannot fail with this.

Dunkirk was a drama. So it got raves from mainstream and high brow critics. I think this will behave similar to inception and that felt like it got universal rave but had its detractors(Weird it got B cinemascore).

How would legs be for this. What was F8 India gross?

So far numbers are great. Even russia OD is promising(almost 150m ruble). Definitely not grossing below 700m. Its pretty much the last major movie this summer. China should get onboard this movie for sure. Could even go higher than 700m(That is with 200m in China).

Futurist trolls in all the threads of the movies he or she does not like. Same shit I saw in Once Upon as well. best bet is to ignore.

I am betting this explodes in china if it gets July release date. Inception was huge there(2nd biggest movie at that point). A sci fi action thriller by Nolan gonna explode big time.

Not a bad start for IT Chapter 2 at Empire 25 but not something spectacular. But looking at home page I did not huge promotion for the movie still. Is there a trailer or a tv spot announcing the ticket sales.

WOW that teaser was much more than what I expected. Its going to be roller coaster ride for sure. Cant wait for extended Imax preview with SW9.

GAH. I meant TEASER and only for NOLAN movies. if you want history of Begins, you have to look at entire history starting with the all time classic camp called Batman and Robin. I used to track future batman projects through Grep's Upcoming movies. Batman brand was so tarnished most plans went kaput until they gave this indie director a chance. He was not able to keep his narrative in the entire campaign as the movie was not tracking well with Women. So you had all sorts of tricks pulled by WB Marketing(they used to suck big time those days). Thanksfully the movie laid the foundation that helped TDK big time.

H&S is very strong in AMC Metreon 16 as well. LK is keeping iMax but 2 dolby shows are almost sold out while all but last 2D shows have 60%+ occupation. I am expecting all the prime time shows to sell out.

Ticket sales are so small it cannot be extrapolated 🙂

Update as we have just over a hour to go for 1st show to start. the 1st 2d show has shown significant spike and I expect it to sell lots more with walk ins. Its definitely looking up. I am thinking half the preview tickets should be sold with premium shows almost selling out.

Theater counts have little relevance beyond a certain number. Screen/Show counts have greater value. Could be that some indie theaters have added it but wont make any difference to BO gross. Anyway its looking at sub 50%(hopefully 45%) drop this weekend.

I have only seen bits and pieces of 1st movie on flight but the movie did not scream sequel. it was also a journey that was wrapped up.

if 1.56 is true for TS4 its wednesday is ahead of Monday. Its looking at really good number. Even TLK monday to wednesday drop is not bad relative to last week. Already its sub 50% from last week. I am sure thursday drop will be better as well. Could be looking at 40m+ 3rd weekend.

I dont know why some posters ridicule all posts and call it a fake. Nolan always likes to have early teaser that barely shows anything(TDK just had conversation between bruce/alfred plus joker laughter). This is gonna be huge with supposed time travel connatation.

As I said earlier, this will play stronger in smaller markets than Once Upon last week and so the anecdotal tracking we are doing is not painting the complete picture. it will open better than what we are extrapolating from anecdotal data.
