  1. Frankly the writing was on the wall, all Scott s films are perfectly crafted technically & visually since his first film, he s a visual filmmaker at heart, an even better world builder. So with a great book, simple premise, great lead, great cast, he couldn't fuck this up really. This is gonna do well.
  2. Why all reviews said the format looked like those TV modes, then ? 48FPS never had the chance, everyone agreed it was demeaning movies.
  3. So why "experienced" critics, bloggers & cinephiles shouted in unison the same drivel when the first images of The Hobbit in 48 FPS when presented to this fine assembly of people : it looks like TV !!! Horrible !!!! 48 FPS : Kill With Fire ! Movies are in 24 FPS, I like my movies BLURRY ! The buzz was so bad that the format was never adopted by anybody, I am not even sure Hobbit 3 had showings in 48FPS ... Dead on arrival. WWCD ?????????? I wonder.
  4. This. When you have gigantic hits in early summer, they kill demand for movies that come afterwards. People don't go see all summer tentpoles, they always choose some of them.
  5. Is Henry Cavill a good actor ? I still can't answer that question. Weird.
  6. He mixes so many, many, many things together though, people have no idea how broad his tastes are, I think you could have a conversation about movies from almost any time period & country, he has seen it all. Dude s scary.
  7. Some people (not me) argue Tarantino is just a juke-box pillaging thousands of films the majority of (western) people haven't see. Reservoir Dogs was an unofficial remake of a Honk Kong film I am forgetting (Ringo Lam was the director I think). Tarantino would probably confess it himself, almost every frame he creates is a reference to a film he saw. Dude s probably one of the biggest cinephile ever.
  8. Lame. The original show was serious shit, not post modern. Be faithful to the material you re adapting.
  9. So I went in to meet him, then that was the thing that happened really quickly, because I went into have this meeting with him and the first thing that I said was ‘My only hesitation is… I love this script but I just did Interstellar and I played a dude who was stranded on a planet, and it might be weird if I take a year-and-a-half off and play a dude who is stranded on a planet.’ I explained the movie to him, and he was like ‘The movies are totally f**king different. This is going to be f**king fun. Let’s do this.’ That infectious thing and I couldn’t really say no to him. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/17/matt-damon-explains-why-the-martian-is-a-love-letter-to-science Love, The Futurist
  10. Damon didn't want to make the movie after Nolan's MAGNUM OPUS. Scott s pitch : " Come on Matt, we re gonna have so much fun with this !" I am not even making this up, that s what convinced Damon, the fun word.
  11. Incredible that Chastain was in audition hell for almost a decade, like Amy Adams & Naomi Watts before her. Destiny is a strange thing.
  12. Seems to be The Matt Damon show and it s kind of an action survival thriller. Nobody is predicting her for that kind of movie. We don't don't even how big her part is.
  13. It seems that Harvey doesn't meddle only with his big auteurs these days ( QT, DOR, Haynes, PTA, etc), the rest have it tough.
  14. Please remember that the scope of H8teful is smaller than Kill Bill Vol 1&2, Inglorious Basterds & Django Unchained. The song that inspired QT for the movie.
