  1. Every studio except Disney is becoming very desperate. Especially animation studios. I mean Disney will rule this May with an iron fist. DWA moved KFP3 from Dec into March merely because of Star Wars and The Good Dinosaur. DWA is willing to compete with Pets, Zootopia, Allegiant Pt. 1, and BvS other than Star Wars. Disney has CA: CW and AIW2 for next May along with Finding Dory 3 weeks after AIW2. Disney has DWA's Trolls sandwiched with Doctor Strange and Moana with Rogue One in December. I hope DWA figures out something to help Trolls because Moana is incredibly dangerous to their survival. Disney gets so much worse in summer 2017. We got Guardians 2 with Star Wars VIII in May. Toy Story 4 in June along with Universal unleashing DM3. I just realized that Sony was so desperate for a release date for their Smurfs reboot, they put it on March 31 2017. Another animated movie opens a week after with Beauty and the Beast 2 weeks prior and another animated movie 3 weeks prior.
  2. KFP 3 will make profit from international and china alone. But there are so many hazards on KFP 3 in the US. BvS, Allegiant, Zootopia, Jungle Book, and an Illumination movie in February.
  3. If Home does get a sequel, J-Katz needs to remember to NEVER make a tv show on Netflix. He needs to preserve the potential domestic box office gains for a sequel. TV shows cripple DWA's box office to no extent. I can already see the damage the TV show will do to KFP 3's domestic box office with all the competition. It won't flop, especially with their China plan though. A Croods tv series on Netflix makes sense since 5 years will naturally decrease box office anyway. If J-Katz wants to keep DWA alive, he needs to invest in original Netflix cartoons. None of the Puss in Boots or King Julien crap. I can see Turbo FAST was a dud on Netflix since they didn't renew it for a 2nd season. Pure original stories and characters that are not in any movie. By doing that, he can make Netflix the next Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network.
  4. It was never gonna seal their doom at all even if it flopped. They got $180 million from selling their studio and got a bigger credit line. But it would cripple them if it flopped.
  5. I definitely am happy for them. Same here. Seeing a movie this successful is a different feeling. It feels like the Grinch gaining a heart. It actually feels better then just seeing Dreamworks only break even. I can at least see Home matching Croods $187 or close. $50 million is necessary for $200 million though.
  6. I will admit that even if Home flopped, they would survive because of KFP 3 and Katzenberg putting more creative talent into Trolls.
  7. There just exaggerating the $9.3 million UK opening weekend. $3 million came from previews. Croods opened with Also, Cinderella and Spongebob come before the major holiday weekends that The Croods took advantage of which got it huge weekday numbers in the UK. Look at The Croods UK numbers on BOM.
