  1. Once again: it's a truly great movie, see it this weekend - or you'll kick yourself later. On the other hand, speaking about a movie NOT great: here's very short clip showing exactly what the public reaction to this Dune movie will be: https://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/a0RRAEq_460svvp9.webm also: boy, this Chalamet dude does look pretty ugly (to me) - but such weird faces often work in cinema, for certain types and projects (not a lead though)
  2. Terrible year, right? And I already hate this movie too, most of all.
  3. Yeah, it's a pretty great movie! And I thought I really hated the Terminator franchise - because of T3 and Genisys, terrible movies. Too bad most stupid people around the world won't even give this a chance - thinking it was as bad as those two. They have no idea the whole squad is back - especially James. Hopefully Star Wars Episode 9 will escape that sad fate - but I'm pretty sure now the terrible Episode 8 will hurt it bad. Again - because most people are dumb as fuck (a fact I sadly overlook time and again), and have no idea how different those two should be. Anyway: 1. Arnold was born to play the Terminator. 2. This movie has THE BEST EVER fake/young actors CGI! First time in fucking history the uncanny valley is 100% officially gone. They (the people who did this scene) can do anything from now on. 3. Go see this movie. This franchise needs a good closure.
  4. AND the Shay does it again! Another underappreciated movie this year that I was sure it was gonna be good and well liked! Will try to see it tomorrow in IMAX.
  5. OMG, this is so much better than Endgame!! Hope it beats it in the BO too. Welcome back, RDJ - we missed you so much! Tony Stark is dead 3000 - long live RDJ!!
  6. I can confirm. I see Pixar - I immediately think it will be overrated, and proceed with caution.
  7. Yeah, go SEE this movie, folks - peace is all you need! Especially the AD&D crowds - but ironically they are exactly the ones hating it, for being "too slow", lol. I saw it a second time, as I had promised! Go Pitt!!
  8. The Shay says NO! 😡 Big J is still the man who made Prince of Persia: the greatest fantasy action movie ever!
  9. The Shay never writes in his own country's internet - BUT I found by chance a "review" by some dumb blogger on a review site, who claimed this was the worst movie ever, because it "didn't have enough action" and other dumb shit. I destroyed him with three sentences in the comments after the article. Go Pitt! We care and fight for the good movies! Also: nice comment in the thread title. This movie is indeed too good for "slow" folks.
  10. Strange, most people (the Shay, namely) would watch a Dreamworks over a Pixar any day!
  11. Proud to announce AdAstra has 2.5 times more showings than Rambo18 in my country. Also: movie was a pleasure. Obviously cheap (40m. budget max?) - but money well spent. I don't know what some of you are smoking, but this is indeed one of the most pleasant and family friendly movies. Would be a shame if most crowds miss it. Oh - and a special BOOO to the wisecrackers who were sure this would get a C-. It got a B. Already proven wrong. It seems audiences have more taste than some critics, lol - even after being mislead by an action-skewing late trailer. Go Pitt!
  12. How is that bad? How is that bad? That is one of the best pitches I've ever heard! The Shay hears "Apocalypse Now in space" - he says "I'll reserve the whole theatre on opening night!".
  13. Tele, I doubt you've noticed -- but you just put Bay above Gray... Is there no end to your bottomless descent into self-conscious madness??
  14. Erm, alternative to what, Dee? You know humans never really traveled in space (beyond orbit) - nor we will, in a long time. So there are no retro spacecrafts - nor any real working ones yet, we'll see. Based on that, Gray is free to chose any form he likes - it will be believable by default. Basing the look of his tech on the old NASA Apollo movies from the early 70ies is actually a great decision. Those movies didn't look very well, because of the state of cinema technology at the time - but definitely generate enormous amount of nostalgia and ingrained longing in anyone (even in woke cynics like the Shay) - because of the devious marketing presenting them as real events and twisting the imaginations of whole generations. So Gray is wise to try and tap into that. That is actually the main reason I want to see this so much. I want to see the NASA Moon fantasy - but remade with today's cinema tools. I bet it looks good - and the fake nostalgia (but still very strong) does the rest.
  15. Yeah, go see this, people! It can't be bad! And yeah, I would never expect the brilliance of Sunshine and Gravity - because such movies come once in a decade. AND because - whatever some misguided people here seem to think - James Gray is a nobody. Yes, I saw Z in cinemas, also We Own the Night - he is a nobody. While Cuaron and especially Danny Boyle are both Top 5 directors in the world EVER, maybe even Top 3!! BUT - this is real space sci-fi, this looks good, this has a chance of being thoughtful or emotional - how many of those do we really get?!! In a DECADE?!! IMAX for the Shay, at least two or three times! Bringing my girlfriend too. Let's see how she handles good sci-fi. P.S.: Bonus points!! @Plain Old Tele says he hates it!
  16. Hm, maybe the Shay is really off here - but I always considered Kubrick to be extremely cold. That's why I never liked him - and dislike Nolan and Villeneuve (especially) when then try to imitate this coldness. Take a look at Ad Astra's latest trailer: Pitt riding the rover, raising his hand to feel the dancing moon dust!! That is the opposite of cold, this is the style I like and use - that detail alone shows this movie could never be like Kubrick.
