  1. Legendary/Warner Bros.’ Dune: Part Two hit three-week tracking today and everyone is going nuts with projections as it’s been a barren marketplace.

The most conservative sees the sequel to the Denis Villeneuve feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel between $65M+, which is 59%-83% higher than the opening of Dune back in 2021 ($41M); you’ll remember that movie’s ticket sales were siphoned by its day-and-date availability on HBO Max during the pandemic. However, fanboys still went to see Dune in theaters with the movie becoming the second-highest grossing day and date/HBO Max movie for Warner Media at $402M WW (stateside it was a record at $108.3M).

Eternals is going to be a divisive movie because it doesn't really work at the end of the day. There is too much exposition, the pacing and structure are a mess, and the story of love in all its forms gets lost.

Eternals is going to be a movie that many people aren't going to like, and that is wholly justified. The bad does outweigh the good.

Speaking of beloved Vertigo titles, WB should do a movie or TV Show of Fables. I've read until Volume 6 of the deluxe edition and I absolutely love it. Wouldn't mind one especially with the second season of The Wolf Among Us game not happening anymore (because the company that was making those games closed down).

David Heyman was developing a film based on Fables with Jane Goldman and Nik Arcel. Not sure of the status now.

This movie is fetishtic with its depiction of violence, like it feels like an even worse Eli Roth film. That said, James Gunn had no creative input on the movie itself.

This is not accurate at all. He was the major producer on the project, his brother and cousin wrote the screenplay under his guidance, and he handpicked one of his close friends to direct it. He also buried himself into the work of the film between his firing from GotG and hiring for Suicide Squad.
