  2. Forbes can be a reliable source of information. But there is a difference between their staffed journalists and "Forbes Contributors" like Mark who don't have much oversight at all. He clearly doesn't have an editor, which is why it often takes him 3000 words to write up a 300 word story.

  5. In my book, a single movie qualifies as a franchise if it has a very successful 500 million dollar Disney theme park dedicated to it.
  6. ‘Shang-Chi’ Marvel’s First Asian Film Superhero Franchise; Dave Callaham Scripting, Search On For Director Of Asian Descent Marvel Studios is fast-tracking Shang-Chi to be its first superhero movie tentpole franchise with an Asian protagonist. The studio has set Chinese-American scribe Dave Callaham to write the screenplay, and Deadline hears Marvel is already looking at a number of Asian and Asian-American directors who want to do something as potentially monumental as was accomplished in Marvel’s first viable Best Picture candidate, Black Panther. That film tied into African and African American cultures and the sensibilities of its nearly all-black cast, with a black director in Ryan Coogler and writer in Joe Robert Cole. The goal here is to do a similar thing: introduce a new hero who blends Asian and Asian American themes, crafted by Asian and Asian American filmmakers. https://deadline.com/2018/12/shang-chi-marvel-studios-first-asian-film-superhero-dave-callaham-kevin-feige-black-panther-1202512660/
  7. The "Zak Penn" of the WW screenplay's credits is Jason Fuchs. He was one of the many writers working on screenplays when Michelle MacLaren was developing the project. Her ideas didn't pan out, then Allan Heinberg was brought on to work with Snyder to bring the script back to a more classic WW origins story. Jenkins officially replaced MacLaren a few months later and then she and Johns also got involved with the screenplay.
  8. Not really the case at all for most filmmakers working today. Sandberg doesn't even have control over when the first costume reveal is and he's the one being asked about these set photos on social media all the time.
