  1. I think Bond 24 can reach a billion but, what is the new normal for Bond films at the box office? Is the minimum now $800M-$850M?
  2. Sounds like it. If Bond 24 follows the same production and release schedule as the last seven films then, based upon this rumor, Bond 24 should start filming in November or December 2014 for a November 2015 release. Box Office Mojo has these films scheduled for a November 2015 release: November • Ant-Man (BV) - 11/6 • Untitled Peanuts Movie (Fox) - 11/6 • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 (LGF) - 11/20 • Pixar Animation Untitled (BV) - 11/25 Bond 24 could open on Friday, Nov 13th or on November 6th against the Untitled Peanuts Movie.
  3. I really hope that Skyfall gets a Best Picture Academy Award nomination as well.
  4. $294,730,000 (DOM - (As of 01/04) Full weekend estimate not yet available) $726,400,000 (OS) $1,021,130,000 (WW) BOX OFFICE MOJO
  5. $294,730,000 (DOM - (As of 01/04) Full weekend estimate not yet available) $726,400,000 (OS) $1,021,130,000 (WW) BOX OFFICE MOJO
  6. Skyfall will beat The Dark Knight's WW gross of $1,004.6B by Friday (five day OS not included in estimate). Does anyone think that Skyfall will surpass Alice In Wonderland's $1,024.3B on Sunday?
  7. This milestone is nearly unbelievable but completely deserved for the 'elder statesman' of film franchises!
  8. UPDATE: Skyfalls' DOM number has now been updated by BOM $289,600,000 (DOM) $710,600,000 (OS) $1,000,200,000 (WW) Skyfall's gross should be a little over $1B after the DOM weekend is tallied.
  9. Box Office Mojo has updated Skyfall's OS and WW box office. $286,505,000 (DOM - incomplete weekend estimate) $710,600,000 (OS) $997,105,000 (WW)
  10. Box Office Mojo has updated Skyfall's OS and WW box office. $286,505,000 (DOM - incomplete weekend estimate) $710,600,000 (OS) $997,105,000 (WW)
  11. Goldfinger was Sean Connery's third Bond film, whereas QOS is Daniel Craig's second. Goldfinger cemented Sean Connery as James Bond for a generation (or more) and Skyfall is doing the same for Daniel Craig. The record breaking success of Goldfinger catapulted Thunderball to greater box office heights and, hopefully, Skyfall does the same for Bond 24. Skyfall is a huge suceess and will probably outgross Thunderball's adjusted for inflation WW box office gross, but there is still room for Bond 24 to expand in Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and North America.
  12. If Skyfall is Daniel Craig's Goldfinger then, maybe, Bond 24 will be his Thunderball.
  13. 100M GBP is so close. Will Skyfall reach it by the new year?
  14. I know that this question isn't specific to the forum topic and it may be premature but, what do you guys think is the 'new normal' for a Bond film at the box office? GoldenEye set the box office trend for the Bond films from 1995 through 2002 and Casino Royale brought the box office up to new heights. With Skyfall making a billion dollars, is the minimum for Bond 24 seven to eight hundred million dollars?
  15. How close will Skyfall come to $1B before it's Chinese debut? The film is almost guaranteed to hit $950M before China. Maybe Skyfall will come within $30M to $50M.
  16. The Bond franchise is in a unique position to affect box office revenue in any particular market by setting a film in that country. It might be cynical from an artistic point of view, but I would be looking at India, Japan, China, Russia and America for potential locations over the next several films.
  17. I'm not sure why Bond is not as successful in Eastern and Southern Europe as it is in Western Europe but this wasn't always the case. Southern Europe, specifically Italy, produced a number of Bond parodies in the 1960's. The Italians even nicknamed James Bond 'Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang'. The Cold War may explain Eastern Europe's slow warm up to 007; the peoples of the eastern block didn't grow up reading or watching James Bond. Japan is another market whose Bond mania has cooled over the last 20 years or so.
  18. Maybe in a limited way, if at all. Producer Barbara Broccoli stated that she feels the Bond films don't lend themselves to 3D like a sci-fi, superhero or fantasy films do. Broccoli did suggest 3D conversion may be appropriate for the title sequences.
  19. Now, we impatiently wait for Skyfall to break the ultimate UK box office record - 100M GBP.
  20. That German gross is incredible. Skyfall has already passed QOS's Australian gross.
