  1. I love crime movies that are based on true stories like this one that tells the story of the Newton Gang. Matthew McConaughey is the lead man in this movie and he does a real fine job. I know that many don't like Matthew McConaughey but he's an interesting case study. He is with no doubt a good actor, his early work and his more recent films like The Lincoln lawyer and Killer Joe proves that, but between those time frame he was type cast to a lot of romantic comedies that, although granting that it gave him fame, it also gave him an image that he couldn't act and that he was only good at taking his shirt off. And that's sad, bacause the guy does have some talent. In this movie he is second by Ethan Hawke and Skeet Ulrich, the movie is very watchable and fun, but don't expect a ruthless gangster movie, this is more of a "good old boys are at again robbing banks" type of movie.
  2. What a bizarre and strange movie this was, but i laugh my ass off with this one. It reminded me of meet the feebles in the french revolution
  3. This for me is the best movie of the 3 amigos Jackie, Sammo and Biao. The action is furious, the fights are insane and Benny The Jet Urquidez kicks major ass as the bad guy, the final battle betwwen him and Jackie is legendary. A must see.
  4. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRal_feCStc Swashbuckler movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Gérard Depardieu based on Alexandre Dumas The Man in the Iron Mask. It's a fun adventure movie.
  5. Dolph Lundgreen and Brandon Lee set the screen on fire with non-stop action from start to finish. A truly classic of good old school action.
  6. "Fate of Your Planet" Official Trailer. Who's eager for this one?
  7. New exclusive trailer, i can't wait to see this. Wolvie is my favorite Marvel character.
  8. As promised here's the remake of the japanese anime of 1987 Wicked City. It's a live action movie made in Hong Kong and it's very faithful to the original material. The FX are very good for that time and the action it's completely crazy just like the anime. The spider-woman scene alone is worth your watching, check this baby out you won't regret it.
  9. Based on the real life english gangsters The Krays, this movie is very good. I won't classified this as a gangster movie because it would be completely reducing considering what this movie tries to portray. This is a biographical work about The Krays, their community and the times that they lived on, and it's pretty damn well made. Like i always say if a movie has a good strong plot, it doesn't need big stars, great action scenes or special effects, because all a good movie needs is a heart to beat and the movie's heart usually is a plot that tells us an awesome story.
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h0B1S17uCc This is a guilty pleasure of mine. Yes it's bad, but it's a so bad it's good type of thing. We have David Bradly returning once again as the American Ninja and Pat Morita as a sensei
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1QJaPV-3nE This is when things started to go to hell. Not even pairing Dudikoff and Bradley saved this turkey.
  12. Out with Dudikoff, in with David Bradley which is also another legend of action B movies. This third entry is still a very good ninja movie.
  13. Who would've thought but the sequel it's even more awesome the the first one. Cannon did it again. and for those that have no clue what's cannon, let me explain. Cannon was a legendary production company that did thousands of low-to-medium budget action movies. They were responsable for movies like American Ninja, Cyborg, Delta Force, Cobra, Missing in Action and many others action fests. Michael Dudikoff it's still the american ninja in this one.
  14. Ninjas. We all loved ninja movies when we were kids, and let's faced, we still do, and this one is the grand daddy of them all. It's simply the king of ninja movies. Michael Dudikoff does an amazing job in this legendary action packed ninja movie brought to us by (who else) cannon.
  15. yes there was a time where Michael Douglas had black hair In the 80's a lot of vigilante movies were made, this one can be put in that category with a major twist. Usually the vigilantes in those movies were cops but in this movie the vigilantes are judges that have a secret court where they pass judgement to those criminals that beat the system and then they would sent some hitman to enforce the sentence. There are some aspects of this movie that are out dated because new laws were made that don't have the flaws that were protrayed in this movie, but still it's an engaging movie and michael douglas gives a stellar performance.
  16. Whenever i think that i've seen every Jackie Chan movie there is to see, a new one comes along that i never seen before. But that's a thing to be expected when a guy like Jackie has over 100 movies under his belt. In this movie Jackie plays a bad guy (something really rare to see on screen) and even though the producers tried to cash in on Jackie's fan by advertizing him on the cover, he is not the main character of this movie. But it's still a fun movie to watch, full of 70's kung fu and an hilarious dubbing, those 2 things alone are enough to check this baby out.
  17. Since Donnie Yen's Iceman is about to come out, i present you guys the original movie that gave origin to the remake. Yuen Biao shines in this one. Biao chose to do a carreer based on a more fantastic martial arts type of movies unlike his older "brothers" Sammo and Jackie that chose a more reality based kind of martial arts movies. He in this one has amazing stunts where he shows his unbelievable acrobatic skills and his suberb kung fu. This is an out of the box type of movie where you can expect the unexpected but it's one hell of a fun ride.
  18. I love a good old school action movie without any cgi crap, and this movie delivers on that level. the main star is WWE star John Cena, i know that many of you may not like him, but i really love the type of action that he has made so far. John Cena reminds me of the old action stars of the 80's and 90's, he's an old school action star, and what you'll see on the big screen is real explotions, physical fights and bloody shootouts. So yeah, i like John Cena as an action star because he delivers on the kind of action that i wanna see on my movies. 12 rounds feels like a mix of speed and die hard with a vengeance, the villain is pretty good, each is a rare thing nowdays. The movie villains now are so bland, in the old days they were really bad and people hated them, now most of them are just annoying. But i digress, 12 rounds is an old school action movie made in 2009, if you like real action like there were in the 80's and 90's this is the movie for you.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jTZ3QMoE9w I love anime. For those that don't know anime is japanese animation usually made for an adult audience. My first contact with anime was thanks to a little UK label called Manga entertainment that made me possible to discover anime movies like ghost in the shell and ninja scroll. The animation was so different from the disney ones that i was used to watch and the themes were so adult and serious even philosophical at times that i was hooked for life in that genre. Wicked City is one of those movies that i watched thanks to manga. It's full of brutal bloody scenes with demons, some nakedness and cuss words, everything that a teen kid loves when growing up It's not an anime masterpiece, but it's a fun ride. Three years later a live action movie from HK based on this anime movie was made, very soon i'll make a thread about that movie
  20. For many this sequel was even better then the first one. Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao return for another smash hit slaptick kung fu movie. As promised, let me talk a little about the three brothers. They are not real brothers, they call themselves brothers because the 3 were students in the Peking Opera School where they learn about acting and kung fu. Sammo is the oldest brother, then comes Jackie and finally comes Biao. The three became friends for life and made many movies together, specially in the 80's and 90's, and let me tell you something, every single movie that the three musqueteers made is a much watch for every action fan.
  21. This was the movie that really establish Jackie Chan as a comic action movie star. Up to that point in Hong Kong the lines between action and comedy were usually separated, and with Jackie and Project A the lines came together and the slapstick martial arts was born. This movie is a must for every jackie Chan fan. In this movie besides Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao are also in it. I'll talk more about these three guys in the Project A Part 2 thread
  22. This was the last movie that i saw that it scared the hell out of me, and i can tell you one thing, it's very rare a movie to reach that level for me. I usually chuckle during horror movies
  23. So true, Cannon movies rocked big time
  24. This is one of the best movies of Van Damme, it's pure awesomeness. It's a great post-apocalyptic movie, where everything is destroyed usually by some nuclear disaster and the only ones that survived are usually gangs of punks, true story Like i was saying this is an awesome post-apocalyptic movie with some amazing action scenes and fights. Van Damme it's at his best in this one.
  25. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQbpot6v7NQ It's the remake of Yuen Biao's The Iceman Cometh, with tog dog HK action star Donnie Yen. It sounds awesome.
