Oppenheimer cost 180 million.
Pretty sure we already confirmed this was a misquote. It's 100m.

They did not even perform prepandemic for how overly hyped those movies were. Pre pandemic hyped comic book movies made a billion. Guardians should have been a billion, not less than Vol. 2
Take China away from both volumes and 3 made 50m more than 2.

Hopefully Ele is close to 1.3m, but it seems like everything was hit by Barbenheimer looking at the AtSV drop.

if Barbie opens with lets say 170M what is the lifetime floor? Like what multi we expect? It's skewing female of course but not as extremly as thought so which means much better chance for long legs due to more demos showing interest. So realstiically what would be the lowest lifetime?
450?

lol what if Barbie opens to 170m and Opp 100m and Barb is considered the disappointment of the weekend based on preview numbers. It's BOT so anything is possible.

Sorry, does Barbie have no PLF screens or just no IMAX screens? Any idea what Barbie's PLF screen % looks like?
There’s a chart breakdown of screens / PLF / IMAX a few pages back.

I'm rooting for Elemental to beat Indy this weekend. Does anyone else think this is possible?
I think so. I have Elemental at 7.1m this weekend, so if Indy drops another 50% it will make 6.2.

1.9m for Ele (hopefully 1.96m or something) is a great 52-57% increase. Hoping for 1.4m wed.

NHF should reach 50m by the end of the weekend, and finish around 52-54m DOM and 90m WW. Decent for the state of comedies in 2023.

That would be a 60% drop for Elemental, it's first Sun-Mon drop over 51%. Looks like everything dipped a bit steeper than previous weeks.

I said it before, I'll say it again: The Rock is probably one of the most cynical, mercantile and greediest stars out there, along with Jennifer Lawrence, the guy gives zero fs about quality of his work, he just sells his face and alcohole against green screen. His recent stuff makes Doom look pretty decent.

I told you 9M would happen.
It bested my 125.22m-total-by-yesterday prediction by close to .5m, nice!
My weekdays were too high and weekend jumps not high enough, but overall the numbers shook out to a nearly identical total.
Looking at this week and into the weekend, I'm not sure how much Barbienheimer will affect it, but I'm thinking with another amazing Sunday hold it could drop as low as 20% :
mon 1.5 (-50%)
tues 2.0 (+35%)
wed 1.5 (-25%)
thurs 1.4 (-7%)
fri 2.0 (+40%)
sat 2.7 (+35%)
sun 2.4 (-12%)
6th wkd 7.1m (-22%)
That would put it at 139.19m.

I don’t think Elemental is dropping over -20% for the next few weekend’s. It’s perfect counter-programming to everything coming out. Even tho it’ll lose some showtimes, families will seek it out from WOM and being the only PG option around (Spider-Verse will be shedding theaters).

...is there evidence of that happening?
Also MI2 is a good movie, so like????
In a franchise full of great movies it kinda stands out.

Puss in Boots 2 got to 28 days
Which Ele will match once we get the thurs number! Estimating a flat day for yesterday, if it drops 20% from that number it should just squeak over 1m on wed/thurs in 2 weeks, allowing for it to reach 45 days over by Sunday, July 30.

If the studios resort to "block booking" and free tickets to pad film grosses their days as profitable enterprises that make product people actually want to pay for are DONE.
Oh so these tickets are purchased ahead of time for a specific showing/seat, and regardless of if it's claimed it expires with that showing? Interesting...
I thought it was like an open ticket and you can then apply it towards an open seat at any future showing. This way seems like it would be more honest than what's actually happening.

They've already separated the gross for that. You can ask Jatinder and others have access to rentrak and other money counting companies.
Oh so it's not part of the 49.5 current gross?
