  1. Just came back from the movie and honestly am pretty disappointed with the script. The way it was shot was great, but substance? They dropped that on one of the many scrip rewrites apparently, where they also left the consistency of some of the characters, especially the main female one. Acting was good from almost everybody, but what they were given to work with, not so much. And the villains were majorly disappointing. C+ from me.

Hope that one comes out ok at least.
  3. Really? I didn't know "писател" means that or is it just some people's desire for it to mean that. As long as his/hers works are oriented to the masses, they qualify for the Bulgarian version of the word. Quality not needed. On topic - as we're also getting the movie this weekend I am going to see it on IMAX. Curious if I will like it as I run quite hot/cold with Ritchie's work.
  4. I normally avoid typical Hollywood comedies from the last 5-6 as I find them almost the same, but with so many good reviews [not only from critics, but also some friends'] I decided to give this one a chance and I'm happy I did. Movie was a blast. A- from me.
  5. If there is anything specific for a city in an action Marvel scene the chances of it surviving the scene are like 5%. When I write Seoul in Google images the most significant things are skyscrapers and also one of the images is this http://www.onthegotours.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/NightViewofSeoul.jpg which I think they did show.
  6. While I see the point [very successful films released near each other] having one of the 2 main actors die makes FF7 the statistical anomaly in any comparison. Now FF8 against any of the first tier Marvel movies I'm willing to see and accept it as having any significance.
  7. Actually, Lupita Nyong'o for 12 Years a Slave and Jennifer Lawrence are locks [if such a thing exists] for a nomination for Supporting at the Oscars. And I'm almost positive one of them is taking the Oscar. Lawrence already has SAG and GG nominations, two of the 3 big ones before the Oscars, BAFTA is still unknown [Nyong'o also has them] + both of them have racked like 80%+ of all Critics awards announced till now for the category.
  8. ^^^^^ That breakdown from Brazil makes me think for sure more front-loaded than THG. CF dropped on Sat vs. an increase for THG, even if Friday was a holiday. Some stats for their top grossing Hollywood movies this year in order: Iron Man 3's first weekend was around 25% of total Despicable Me 2 around 16% Fast & Furious 6 around 26% Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters around 18% The Wolverine around 26%
  9. Thor 2 fell -41.9% in its second weekend in Bulgaria and is already at 90% of Thor's 1 gross and has another weekend with nothing big opening before THG2. Some other interesting facts from looking at BOM: In Colombia it had two weekends with national holidays on Monday, but fell just 14% on it's second while loosing 14% of it screens to 3 new releases. It had the second smallest drop in the top 10. In Malaysia Thor 2 is already the 4th highest grossing movie of 2013, soon to become 3rd. Iron Man 3 and Fast & Furious 6 are 1st and 2nd. In Mexico it fell 46%, compared to 55% for Thor 1 [a note, that was when Fast 5 opened] and 54% for Iron Man 3, and has already made 80% of Thor's 1 total. Mexico's was Thor's 1 third biggest OS market after UK and Australia. In Slovakia its opening weekend gross was 99% of Thor's 1 total. Thor's 2 gross after its second weekend has already surpassed Thor's 1 total in these OS markets: Austria Brazil Bulgaria Colombia Finland Hong Kong India Malaysia Philippines Russia [according to what is announced on this board's Russia's tread] Singapore Thailand In many other territories it's at 95%+ of Thor's 1 total gross like UK, South Korea etc.
  10. In Bulgaria its first weekend [3 day] was 19% higher in terms of gross than the 4 day opening weekend of Thor 1 in 2011. Thor 2 had an almost identical opening to The Avengers, less than a percent difference.
  11. This isn't true when your "sample size" is not carefully selected. Do you think Nielsen just randomly chooses the first 25 000 homes it encounters in the USA to determine ratings for the whole country? There's an very important selective process in statistics for that table you found to be valid, and that doesn't apply to IMDB. While it applies to Nielsen for example.
  12. Funny, all the ladies I know, including me, liked Thor 2 pretty fine, compared to some guys here, which are pretty critical of it. And IMO, Thor 2 has more emotion than Thor 1.
  13. 91 minutes. Felt way longer than that.
  14. Even with the Avengers, the popularity of Robert Downy Jr overseas, especially in Asia, cannot be currently matched by any other actor in the MCU. That also helps the gross of Iron Man movies.
  15. And nobody noticed it should be 66 m, not 56, if that number comes from 110-46.
  16. Thor I opened during the May Day weekend in a lot of European countries, where Sunday's gross is higher because of holiday Monday [May 2 in that case], including UK and some other countries. It's a holiday weekend in essence.
  17. In a very empty event-movie March-April period, compared to end of April, beginning of May for Thor I [when F&F5 was marvelous OS]. And the one is from a pretty popular book franchise, while the other is a less known super hero [in terms of OS knowledge]. Competition does affect box office performance. I still think CF will do gangbuster and do close to double the first one, but let's first see how Thor is performing for the whole weekend before doing any preliminary conclusions. From the OS trends on the treads, I see it's performing very strong on Saturday-Sunday, making it less front-loaded then some other SH entries.
  18. If you think women at 53+ look like this [with just professional make-up and hair] - you have serious problems with perception. She looks around at most 45 to me.
  19. Sorry for the question, but which of the days this week are nonworking in the USA because of the holiday? Is it just Thursday or are there any other days included?
  20. Several pages ago it was mentioned that Spider-man (2002) also had its first Sunday on Cinco de mayo day (May 5th) and also had a pretty steep drop - 27%, and that movie is know for an amazing WOM and multiplier, so maybe Disney is taking into account that. Since today is also Cinco de mayo in the US.
  21. It all depends on your writing speed/patterns and what you feel comfortable with. I can do it in less than 12 hours because once I start I don't stop for more than 15 minutes till I finish it, yet a friend of mine would need at least 48 hours because of the way she structures her time.
