  1. Already feeling the pre-disappointment in my 30m 3rd weekend expectations
  2. I like when my rom coms have an immaculate kitchen that looks like 100 million bucks.
  3. Would like to see Oppenheimer over 7m on Monday but 6.9 is also pretty nice...
  4. This would be hindsight but given the strike, not having Tom Cruise to promote your film in the home stretch would also tank your film
  5. even I would struggle to follow Nolan on a Miss Saigon film I also think a musical would be at odds with Nolan’s shooting style tbh.
  6. It basically feels like Regal took the biggest auditorium not named IMAX in their theaters and rebranded it. Nothing else. Granted I haven't gone since like 2017.
  7. I went there for Man of Steel when it first opened and later the Last Jedi. In 4 years, the location had gone to shit pretty fast. It wasn't well taken care of it felt like. At the time it opened however, it was incredible
  8. No I know nothing, I'm a dummy. But if Jordan Peele can be considered a draw after Get Out, I'm not sure why Greta can't be after Barbie. Cashing in on your new found success matters, I do agree, so we'll see what she does. Like Nolan does Inception after his big breakout hit, Peele does Us. What Gerwig does next can cement her place but the foundation is all there because WB did tie a lot of promotion around her name, and that will matter.
  9. Barbie actively promoted her name unlike Jon Watts. Barbie having Greta Gerwig attached gave it a degree of credibility in online communities that the movie otherwise wouldn't have. I'd have little interest in Barbie if she wasn't attached, but her doing it meant there was going to be a degree of quality and some actual creative stuff that got me interested. I'm not gonna say she's the next Cameron or Nolan, that will depend a lot on what she does going forward, but her name is gonna be a draw going forward. She's captured a ton of headlines for the success of Barbie and she will get that push.
  10. I won’t be let down if it falls short. Nothing between like 46-53 surprises me. I will throw a tantrum if it only does 45 tho
  11. TDKR also burned off like, twice as much demand as Oppenheimer did and basically had a ton of screens to itself for the first couple weeks. The situation feels completely different here, and we're not even getting to reception or say the Olympics. Just saying, 50m still seems very much plausible to me.
  12. We are. But it also could mean we're still gonna be experiencing spillover into the 2nd weekend too due to a cascading effect. We know several IMAX's are sold out for this weekend in addition to last weekend, and more of those early morning and late night shows will see higher occupancy as a result too on the weekend.
  13. I don't think Oppenheimer will compare much to TDK and TDKR. And being a 3 hour film that's currently constrained by PLF showtimes, that could be pushing more of the grosses to the weekend than it would otherwise. I think 50m is more or less about 50/50. And a 10.66m Wednesday, inching a bit higher than 9.5m seems plausible to me unless Haunted Mansion stealing some Dolbys really hurts it
