  1. If CF is playing like DH1 so far... being that it's only 5:30 EST and it's in the middle of November compared to middle of July I would say that is fucking fantastic.
  2. I think we're probably going to see a $165-175 million opening this weekend and next weekend the usual 67-71% drop for this kind of film.
  3. Oh wow, thats amazing for Gravity. $50 million is really on the table here. Buzz really amped up when that phenomenal WOM kicked in. I know a lot of people who wanted to check it out. If I wasn't so busy with work (our homecoming is this week) I'd have seen it tonight but I might have to wait until Sunday. Here's to great legs!
  4. Actually releasing it with Cloudy 2 is a pretty good idea. They'd better give it a major push these next couple of months. I tell you that movie has great potential based on the things we've heard.
  5. I thought the same thing until I realized we're two months away and all we've gotten is a teaser trailer.
  6. Wow I didn't expect this. Well I just hope it ends up being as good as it could have been. I don't think it is a matter of disagreements because apparently Peterson is still at Pixar and working on something else if the report I read is correct. I'm going to remain optimistic and just say things were going smoothly until they just hit a bump too big to get around without help. I'm sure things will be fine. What Disney needs to do is go ahead and move Frozen to May 30th and get a restart and market it the right way now.
  7. Awesome. Just awesome. So what are the odds Ken Jeong plays the Prime Minister?
  8. Who considers these eyes a weakness? Like what in the literal fuck.
  9. Well, it's not like the X-Men movies have been known for their legs. The Heat should get above R.I.P.D. sometime this week.
  10. If the affair is with Amy Adams, age is but a number.
  11. This is gonna be really awesome. Definitely my top choice to see this December.
  12. Damn, poor Pacific Rim. A 60% drop for an original film in mid-summer is just bad, no matter which way you spin it. Fanboy favorite director or not, that is just really bad. Well, this definitely isn't helping the case for less adaptations and more original risks. The Conjuring is doing great though. Word of mouth is better than any horror movie in a long time, so it might it be able to defy the usual frontloadedness of the genre and get to $40 million anyway? Grown Ups 2 is fading fast, RIPD and Red 2 flopped like fucking crazy. They'll be in discount theaters in a month, maybe less. Turbo might miss $20 million in worst case scenario, so DWA is definitely not going to have a fun time in the coming months. Despicable Me 2 is still pulling some great numbers though.
  13. If The Conjuring doesn't do $40 million this weekend it will have to be as frontloaded as Deathly Hallows II or something.
  14. Surprise horror movie breakout, animated flop, MIB ripoff flop, and a (flop) sequel a lot of people probably didn't remember was coming out. Solid weekend.
  15. Ah, my mistake. For some reason I thought my original post said "locked for $150"
  16. Cloudy 2 is not a $150 million lock. The first one only did $125 million, and while it was well received I don't think it was loved enough to guarantee an increase, or at least a very substantial one.
  17. There are just too many "big" animated movies. DM2 and Monsters University just soaked up everything the consumer's had to give to Turbo. Planes will not make it big either, and might not even hit $100 million. The next animated movie that even has $150 million potential will be Frozen.
  18. DWA is really at risk of becoming a second-tier animation studio. They'd better milk Dragon 2 for all its worth and then some next year.
  19. Oh my gosh if WB fucks this up like they did Cloud Atlas I will be so pissed off.
  20. We'll probably be able to compare PR's run to Super 8's run pretty easily now. Anyway, fuck yeah DM2, show that hasbin Sandler how its done.
