  1. I missed the Monday thread and I want to participate in a mega epic daily thread. This one sucks by comparison. *pout*Waaaaaaahhh
  2. I get what you're saying....basically, "if you say the n-word usage was necessary because he had to portray southern life in a realistic way, then go around and insert caricatures and parodies throughout then...how can you justify the two". I see your point and while it makes sense on paper the movie works somehow..that's my opinion. Perhaps during the next viewing I'll see it a little differently.
  3. I really liked DU. I saw it twice and may catch it again this weekend. Walz, Jackson, and DiCaprio give Oscar nomination worthy performances. I'd like to see Walz win another one. As far as the excessive use of the n-word, this IMDB poster said it best:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1853728/board/thread/208656531?d=208660437&p=4#208660437
  4. What...the....heck??? Imagine my surprise when I come back from the Holidays and see a Monday thread at 50+ pages! Imagine my surprise when I begin skimming through said pages and discover just how it got so long!!
  5. Hey guys, feel free to submit your own RT score. What you think the Rotten Tomatoes score should have been for such and such movie. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/

  7. I hope Disney/Marvel didn't hit their peak with Avengers and there's enough continuing demand for a Marvel theme park.
  8. Based on the RT scores (61%) alone, I'll have to add Jack Reacher to the list. The audience and I liked it. It won't crack most people's top 5 for 2012 but it is certainly deserving of a better RT score IMO. 80% is more accurate.
  9. Here's a previous thread on the topic with useful insights sprinkled throughout... http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/3278-interesting-facts-about-boxoffice-receipts-and-other-revenue-sources
  10. I'm going to add Brave to my list, unfortunately.
  11. Underrated means for you whatever you want it to mean. For me, I think of critic reviews. If they're trending negative but the movie is actually very good..that film is underrated. Hobbit comes to mind. WOM is a factor as well although that's more difficult for me to gauge. Gladiator is an example of an overrated movie whose WOM, I feel, is better than the film.
  12. It's depressing seeing TDKR on so many peoples list. TA I can stand but TDKR, for some reason I don't want it to be true. I have been in denial when it comes to TDKR. It is a great movie but not "slightly below TDK" as I led myself to believe. It's slightly better than Begins. Again, a great movie but a little below expectations. I wouldn't put it on my list of most overrated films but I think it is overrated to some extent.
  13. Yea, I think expectations aren't high on This is 40 despite it being an Apatow flick (I had no intention to see it in theaters). Hmmm..maybe it's worth a look.
  14. Apparently he's had that icon up for awhile now. Could be nothing.
  15. Jon Favreau now has a Star Wars droid on his Twitter page. https://twitter.com/Jon_Favreau He could be campaigning or it could be a hidden announcement. I think it is the latter.
  16. Prometheus grows on me with each viewing. It's one of the most epic movies since Avatar. One of the best movies this year.
  17. I would probably place ASM in the underrated thread because there was a great deal of skepticism and hesitation before the film. Alot of people didn't think it would work. It exceeded many people's expectations.
  18. Would you consider Pitch Perfect underrated? I haven't seen it which is why I'm asking. While we're on comedies, are expectations for This is 40 high enough so that it can even be considered over/underrated?
