  1. Who will have the bigger 2nd weekend? Magic Mike or Madea Witness Protection Jeopardy music...
  2. MM is going to drop worse than the Twilight & Sex and the City movies (only other films I could think of that were frontloaded for the same reasons).70% drop? Gigli territory?
  3. Jack,I'm curious, why would Baumer enjoying Madea movies be a guilty pleasure? I have seen all of them. Not a guilty pleasure, just a pleasure.
  4. My revised estimate for Brave is $240mil. I think it will recover and yet won't recover from the steep drop this weekend, if that makes any sense. Tracking pretty closely with Wall-E for now but I think it will fare better over the next few month. Why did Wall-E drop so heavily in its first 4 weeks? It was an excellent movie. Up and Wall-E's grosses should have been reversed IMO. I notice BoMojo still has "Bear and the Bow" in the URL for the Brave pages. LOL
  5. Was hoping for a better hold for Brave. Too many selfish moms and older sisters. I think it'll make up for it in the weekdays. We'll see 38-42% holds from next weekend on out IMO (even with Ice Age).
  6. Amazing right? I couldn't believe the numbers myself. I'm going to hear it from my wife. *sigh* She thought I was lowballing MM because I was jealous or something. Why on earth would I be jealous??
  7. I can't explain why she's underrated but she's my favorite Marvel character.
  8. Cap2 worries me most of all the upcoming films. Somehow Branagh and co. managed to give the first movie cross-demographic appeal (women swoon, men love the action). You just get a sense the sequel is going to do very well. I don't think Cap has the same level of appeal. I see a $200m ceiling for Cap2 which isn't bad but Thor 2 has more upside.

  10. *sigh* I'll say a prayer for her and her familyhttp://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001188/#Director
  11. Congrats to Pixar and the Brave team. Very good movie. The Sunday drop is just fine. Wall-E did a little better but didn't have another animated film grossing $20m+ that same weekend. I'd be surprised if didn't reach Wall-E's $223m and $250m is definitely possible. Stop spazzing.
  12. We'd have to find someone who has been shot by both an arrow and bullet.
  13. TDKR probably more so than TASM will determine if $620m is going to happen. It'll be close.
  14. I give Madagascar a B+. The kids in the audience loved it and that made it more enjoyable for me. Mad3 is funnier than Brave although Brave is still a better film (though not by much and that's a testament to how good Mad3 is). I loved the humor and the story even though it doesn't have the weight of Brave. It's just mindless entertainment. There were a couple of scenes which didn't deliver which is why it's not an A but overall the voice work, humor, fun, and adventure make this a must-see for families.
  15. In terms of Pixar quality compared with their other movies, it's middle of the road. You should see it. In my opinion it is better than A Bugs Life, Cars, and Up, my least liked Pixar movies (although they were all good). Though not on the level of a Toy Story 3/Nemo/Incredibles. It's in the middle. I plan to see Mad3 but I'm betting that Brave will be my favorite animated film this year.
  16. Sometimes I forget but we do have a Movie Reviews forum. http://forums.boxoff...ve/page__st__20
  17. I enjoyed Brave. There were some intense scenes so if you have younger kids, be aware. It's definitely Pixaresque in quality. Another strong offering by Pixar. They still got it!
  18. Avengers is both top heavy and has sexy legs. *howl!*
  19. I wonder if MIB3 has enough in the WW tank to breakeven at $650m.
  20. Fantastic hold for TA. It should get over $7m for another 20% drop. Amazing.Based on Noctis recommendations, I will check out Mad3. With that said, I don't think it is a lock for $20m. If the IM is like last week's (with no Brave competition) then $21m is on the table. It's going to be close.
  21. Yea, I think that line more than anything else gave me that sinking feeling. Don't get me wrong, I plan to see the film on OW. I remain loyal to Pixar (although I haven't seen Cars 2 yet).
  22. I wasn't impressed with the Monsters University trailer. It fell almost embarassingly flat in my opinion. I immediately thought of the current conversation in this thread about a possible Pixar slump. Ok, I can see how just two movies - Cars 2 and Brave (if it underperforms) - may not equal a slump but three underwhelming/performing movies in a row would be a slump. I hope I am wrong and Brave does better than Tangled numbers and Monsters University is as good or better than its predecessor.
