  1. TFA did $34.394M in its 3rd Friday. Not far off from TWOW. Just sayin...
  2. James Cameron man..... I said this at some forum in 2009....Cameron just has a feel for how to craft a story that resonates with human beings. Lucas had it as well. He's tapped into that part of our brain. Incredible. The only exception was The Abyss and that was still a decent movie. I need to see it again actually...
  3. China is holding well. $2B here we come. James Cameron....you've done it again. My goodness. 3/6 films that have done better than $2B = one director.
  4. The one I hear a lot on Twitter is "how is this movie making so much money, no one i know is even talking about it' 🙂 I think part of that is true. It doesn't seem to be generating buzz like a Twilight or Avengers movie......people and families are just going to see it. December release certainly helps.
  5. Avatar 2's 3rd weekend could come in around 50% of its OW RO's 3rd weekend was 31% That's probably my last RO comp since these are following very different trajectories....except the final DOM numbers might be close.
  6. Depending on the profit sharing structure they could probably squirrel away from A2’s profits much of the production costs for A4/A5.
  7. How much would TWOW’s 2nd weekend have been if not for the storm? $10m more? $20m more? (it’s a thought exercise I do sometimes for The Dark Knight (since the Aurora tragedy probably impacted that OW)) I think the WOKJ guys were right all along about TWOW’s domestic - $550-$600m is in the cards.
  8. TWOW might be Zoe Saldana's 4th 2B+ movie: Avatar (2009) - 2.92B Avengers Infinity War (2018) - 2.04B Avengers Endgame (2019) - 2.79B Avatar The Way of Water (2022) - 2.0B+ When you look at her big budget filmography. My goodness. She’s in many of the Top 100 all time grossing movies.
  9. What impact in dollars do we think the winter storm had on TWOW’s 2nd weekend?
  10. I’m debating 4DX for my 3rd viewing tomorrow. I saw BP2 on 4DX and the theater had it cranked up to level 11/10. It was too much jolting. I went home with a headache. Lol. Nice list. This slow workweek has allowed me to catch up on shows and movies. Maybe I’ll look into Good Nurse. Anyway, here’s hoping to continued success for A2 at the boxoffice!
  11. The consensus on WOKJ is $550-$600M....I'm leaning in that direction. I think this will have better legs than RO.
  12. I hope so. Cameron does sequels VERY well. I want A4 and A5 to start production before A3, in case A3 tanks. lol
  13. I will likely go see it a 3rd time tomorrow. It was incredible, IMO. Not the Movie of the Year but in my Top 3. I am so happy the 2nd weekend totals were stronger than the early estimates, despite the winter storm affecting most of the US. The better A2 does, globally, the more likely we will see A4 and A5 get the greenlight.
  14. Kalo - I PM'd you my list. 15. I saw Avatar 2 twice over the weekend. It got an applause last night at the end when "Directed by James Cameron" showed up on the end credits. JC still has it!
  16. I found my old excel spreadsheet tracker for the first Avatar. It was so fun following that 2009/2010 boxoffice run, almost as great as tracking Titanic online back in the day. LOL
  17. There’s a lot of hype around Avatar 4. Maybe Cameron is talking it up so he can get Avatar 4/5 made but this is the second or third article speaking to the directions that part 4 goes. I want 2 to do extremely well so we can get all 5. I loved 2….probably more so than the original (which I very much enjoyed). https://collider.com/avatar-2-the-way-of-water-james-cameron-interview/
  18. Yay. Looking forward to this one. I really like Omega’s accent. Don’t know why. Lol
  19. A+ I enjoyed the first Avatar. Still do. The sequel is even better and proof that Cameron remains one of the best living directors. I was awed again by this franchise’s visuals. Literally had my mouth open at certain points. Thoroughly enjoyed the story as well. I’ll leave it there. No spoilers.
