    I just don't think Avatar has the stickiness that mega-cult franchises like Star Wars have retained over the years. I've heard people talk disparagingly about the film ('blue people', ferngully/dancing with wolves, etc) years later. I am just skeptical that it has a mass following. The more I think about it, I think $500m is ridiculously high. What made those weekend drops so low was the novelty factor. Avatar 2 will be big but $400-500m big. Again, I loved it. Saw it 6x in theaters. I am not a hater, just a realist.

    I hope you are right but consider why Avatar was so popular. A big reason was the story, sure. Another reason was the newness of it all (new world and innovative use of 3D). The sequels wont have that going for it. I think the dropoff will be greater than $20 but hope I am wrong.

    Better than the first in that there is less Dumb Human Syndrome. This should have been the first movie. C+

    The lack of dollars going toward animation this summer really highlights the weight that Pixar carries. It's a big void when they're not there.

    Surprised at how good it was. If you come in NOT expecting deep character studies, you won't be disappointed. If you come in expecting hot action and great fighting, you won't be disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised at the action sequences, Wesley Snipes, the "new" crew, and the cameos. B+

    Agree. I think Minions will win the year.

    I knew Arnie was the good guy (not sure just how I found out) but you're right, it didn't detract from the movie at all.

    Having just seen The Expendables 3, I'm going to include it on the underrated list preemptively. It's the best one so far.

    The Godfather II while great, is not better or near equal to The Godfather.

    Not knowing that Arnie was the good guy would have been very cool.

    The DC Universe (Batman's galley alone matches up with X-Men's) could be just as interesting. The big question is IF Hollywood can do it justice. Not in this lifetime.

    Reading the first two books and am amazed at how well the show adapted these monstrous novels.
