  1. Question, actor's salaries are counted towards the estimated production budget right? Can't see how SS supposedly only costs $175m which is about the same as GOTG.
  2. Just noticed that Suicide Squad's tomatometer went up to 27% (it was at 26% for a while). Also Kubo and The Two Strings come out next weekend with glorified reviews, how much is that expected to make?
  3. Why are people arguing over Suicide Squad? S-u-i-c-i-d-e S-q-u-a-d. You would think this was some Christopher Nolan movie or Titanic V Avatar.
  4. Seems a lot of parents are taking their kids to see Suicide Squad. Which I don't think is appropriate. My viewing had a number of children, youngest I've seen probably between 7-8 years old. There is a lot of cussing and sexual innuendo. There was a child behind me that whenever the b-word, s-word, and even the word p*ssy was said, he would gasp, and the Mom would just tell him to hush.
  5. Best way to describe Suicide Squad is... It's like eating a nice juicy burger... inside of a trash dumpster. Good cast in a bad, messy movie. I'll post the rest on the spoilers thread I guess, but overall probably 6/10 for me.
  6. Agreed. And according to this 2014 report, based on average licensing and merchandises per year, it's basically Spider-Man (by a longshot) and Batman, then everyone else. https://graphicpolicy.com/2014/11/13/spider-man-beats-the-avengers-batman-and-superman/ #1 Spider-Man ($1.3 billion per year) #2 Batman ($494 million per year) #3 Avengers i.e Iron man / Captain America ($325 million per year) #4 Superman ($277 million per year)
  7. Can't really guage true WOM from people aka "casual viewers" probably of whom only make up a smaller percentage who saw the film opening night/midnight. WOM from fanboys will dominate today. Being a SW fan myslef, I'm assuming hardcore Marvel/DC fanboys are the same.
  8. I'd guess 75% of people who usually go see a comicbook film on opening day previews or midnight are the "Fanboys" so WOM will ALWAYS be good coming out of them.
  9. Someone in CBM made a good observation that WB is borrowing Sony's earlier ideas and turning them into a reality. - Sony was developing an all villain movie "Sinister Six". - WB a year later announced an all villain movie "Suicide Squad". - Sony was also developing an all female movie of all the Spider Women. - WB two years later announced an all female movie with Harley Quinn as lead. Poor Sony.
  10. Oh great, that means we're getting $70 million. J/K, but whenever a "good" number is projected, the actuals more often end up less when it comes to these blockbusters #LessenTheExpectations #LessonLearned
  11. Those wondering what the other weekdays #'s were: AOU: Mon = $13.23 Tue = $13.13 Wed = $9.41 Thu = $8.61 IM3: Mon = $11.27 Tue = $11.29 Wed = $8.11 Thu = $7.61
  12. IM2 opened to 4380 theaters, CW was just 4226 which is 154 theater less. What is the reason for the drop in theater counts?
  13. CW was 1.48% lower than estimates. Anyone remember what BvS estimates were when on it's 1st weekend? I know actuals ended up being $166.1 million.
  14. Witnessing both the Friday thread for BvS and CW a sports metaphor perhaps? BvS is kind'a like that super athlete who decides to enter the Summer Olympics and everyone told you, you were too big to fail that you should be getting that Gold Medal no contest. So he trains hard for 3 long years, even postponing the Winter Olympics in between. He held his prelims in private, not wanting analysts to know. Until a few days before the competition, when he sprains his ankle rotten. He manages to still enter the race but finished just slightly out of the medal round (or Bronze if you count $166M as it). Civil War is kind'a like that athlete who surprising qualified well in the Winter Olympics so people were expecting him to at least place somewhere in the medal round at Bronze. But he held open prelims weeks in advance before the competition, and his scores were so high and buzzing through the roof, that analysts started believing he might actually get the Gold. He enters the race, but he might have put too much trust on his prelims, however he still might end up finishing with a Silver Medal with a Gold Medal still within sight... (dot, dot, dot).
  15. Blame all those official new clips released in the CW thread! People thought the BvS trailers practically gave away the movie, all these official new clips from Civil War practically gave away some of the more cooler surprises in the film.
  16. Having fun with numbers, and I know this opened in April but... Winter Soldier: $10.2 previews / $95.0 weekend = 9.3x Civil War: $25.0 previews * 9.3x = $232.5 weekend Okay j/k but still... BKB!
