There won’t be any giant robots in any movie my studio makes. http://www.thehollywoodnews.com/2012/09/15/giant-robots-rejoice-tom-rothman-will-be-stepping-down-as-fox-ceo-co-chairman/ That Rothman quote explains why Galactus was a cloud and the Sentinels didn't appear in an X-Men film until 2014. His inexplicable hatred of robots extended to the humanoid Galactus, whom Rothman likened to The Transformers, which starred in a rival 2007 film. A lot of geek hatred of him stems from his micro-mismanagement of the X-Men, FF, and of course Daredevil. Who the hell cares about that other crap when superheroes have been wronged?

It's hilarious that Fox has to come crawling to Marvel, begging for a TV deal, after going to such great lengths to antagonize Feige & Co. just two years ago. Even adding Quicksilver to DOFP, complete with taunting tweets, after Whedon announced that he was using the Twins, was a direct slap in the face to Marvel. Murdoch's minions will doubtless have to be willing to share Galactus & the Silver Surfer to even have the hope for a TV deal. Even then, I would bet against any deal being made. Marvel has proven its ability to prosper without its prodigal properties, and they may decide that less is more when it comes to TV competition. Fox may rue the day it decided to sue Marvel over a TV show those many years ago.

Inhumans | ABC TV Special Event Series
Talkie replied to Neo's topic in Streaming, TV Series, & VOD Movies
Bennet is a dreadful actress and Skye is a poorly-conceived character. Focusing on her almost sunk AOS last season. Putting her at the center of Inhumans would be a terrible mistake on Marvel's part. Skye isn't even a traditional Inhuman from the comics and she's not connected with the central royal family, so there is really no reason to use her, anyway. (And don't claim she is a popular character when she is one of the main reasons AOS lost more than half of its audience.) -

Sony could make a statement by posting the entire film to Pirate Bay or some other torrent site, which are unlikely to be taken down by hackers. Even if the torrent site were crashed, it wouldn't hurt any of the major, legitimate streaming sites. -

This is the stupidest post I've ever read on this site. You clearly have no understanding of the issues involved here. This is not merely a threat against one studio whose film you dislike, but against any and all content producers who might be targeted by political extremists or economic saboteurs. These people have also threatened any American who might decide to attend a movie in the future with terrorism if their demands are not met. If one film is forced out of theaters by the threat of terrorist reprisals, any and all other films are under that same threat from now on. You may be okay with this now, but how will you feel if there is another Aurora or 9/11, as the hackers have threatened? Will you still be stupidly crowing over the cancellation of a "dumb" movie then? -
Star Trek Beyond | 7.22.2016 | Not an Oscar winner.
Talkie replied to Neo's topic in Box Office Discussion
http://badassdigest.com/2014/12/15/whats-going-on-with-star-trek-3/ But really, the way other studios are trying to ape Marvel is pathetic. It's just as bad as the descent into darkness after TDK. Hollywood studios don't value true originality unless it originates somewhere else and can be copied on the cheap. Which means that most studios don't value originality at all. -
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

You nailed the ever-annoying Skye and her negative affect on the show. I honestly believe that the terrible way that character was handled drove a lot of viewers away from AOS. It's telling that Bennet herself admitted that she needed eight auditions to make the cut, even with ABC execs pushing her. (She was on Nashville first because of her alleged singing talent, but they never let her sing and dumped her after one season.) Centering the show around Skye and just assuming that the audience would love her was a major mistake on the part of the producers, but then the Whedons can never resist trying to create another Buffy. Skye has been reigned in and her role scaled back a little, but make no mistake, she is still the center of the show. Although the writers wisely focused on Coulson during the cat-and-mouse games with HYDRA, it's all coming back around to the fake hacker chick in the end. Mary Sue Poots is the key and we'll never be allowed to forget it. Season Two has many good things to offer, however. The villains are much stronger than the sophomoric "Centipede" they wasted half a season on last year. Daniel Whitehall/Werner Reinhardt is a seriously deranged man, far more coldly vicious in his methods than any of the film villains. Raina survives to vamp another day, though I still think they missed a great opportunity by not having Coulson try to rehabilitate her instead of Skye. Ruth Negga is such a great actress and her encounters with Clark Gregg are full of potential. Even the formerly bland Ward has morphed into a frighteningly efficient psychopath. The ramped-up villainy has been wonderful to behold. On the flip side, the newly added regular Nick Blood and his character, Lance Hunter, have stepped into that irritating space partially vacated by Skye. He seems to exist solely to do a lot of beta-male whining and spew lame ex-wife cliches. Adrienne Palicki has done a great job as Mockingbird, but she would have been a far better permanent addition to the cast than Blood. -

Lionsgate stock dropped 5% after the estimates were released on Friday. I doubt that studio execs are happy about MJ1's performance after taking that hit. https://www.yahoo.com/movies/news/box-office-hunger-games-mockingjay-down-24-catching-222153996.html -

This thread is hysterical. Will the forum implode if GOTG beats MJ1 for the domestic title? I'd love to see Katniss fans cursing America again the way they did during CF's OW. -
The Judge has been selling out all weekend shows at the local discount theater. The management advises people hoping to see it to buy tickets the day before. That usually happens only with massive blockbusters.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
Talkie replied to CJohn's topic in Streaming, TV Series, & VOD Movies
Yes, and after GOTG that should have been obvious even to those who claimed it might not be. Besides, Triton is green, scaly, has fins and webbed feet & hands. The dead alien doesn't resemble him in the least, and he wouldn't turn up dead on the show when he's meant to star in a movie four years hence. -

The most exciting development of tonight's episode: I almost screamed when they showed what Coulson was drawing. AOS instantly became linked to Phase Three, Cosmic Marvel and possibly the Infinity War itself. Well done, Marvel! -

From what the lead actor has toldcinterviewers, he isn't doing any full-frontal at all. He didn't want it and neither did the studio. Somehow they've filmed all those graphic sex scenes without ever showing male sex organs. I'm sure that Melanie Griffith's daughter will be shown naked head-to-toe and front-to-back in every scene, though. Way to give all those women who bought in to the fetishistic sex what they paid for. -

We all know very well that those supposedly iron-clad IMAX contracts are always renegotiated when a movie under-performs. By the time MJ1 comes out the IMAX owners will have hammered out a deal to give the mega-blockbuster a huge share of the premium show times. The studios will go along, perforce or pragmatically. The lack of male full-frontal will prevent Fiddy Shades from becoming a true masterpiece. -

Avengers: Age of Ultron opening day over Interstellar domestic. That's only if you want to go nuclear with your trolling. -
The trailer and ads for Interstellar struck me as boring and preachy, too. For whatever reason MM looked like he was either drugged or half-asleep, while the reading of that overused poem sounded pompous. The marketing wasn't going to mobilize the public to turn out in droves. The material needed to give at least the illusion that the movie is exciting and has spectacular action, even if those elements are actually lacking. Also, the studios may be impressed by Nolan's name but the GA apparently doesn't share their reverence. They might reconsider relying on the director's rep to move the product. Plenty of people on this forum acted as if they believed that Interstellar would make a billion. Only one of them is a shill. Backpedaling is understandable under the circumstances, of course.
