  1. I always enjoy seeing how these early estimates translate into actuals. It reminds me we're in a golden age of box office and tracking where we can now have a better idea of numbers early on in a weekend thanks to these awesome posters and theater seat tracking. I love this hobby.
  2. Finally had a chance to see this after a densely packed December. It is quite visually stunning in IMAX 3D and I kept thinking there was no way they could top this scene, then they kept doing it again and again. It's mindblowing how seamless it looks all together but one thing really impressed me was the physics and the action sequences. Cameron just has a thing about making the action feel so kinetic and it really shows. It feels super impactful in this movie and easily craps on anything else with CGI action. Neytiri just killing things with those giant arrows made you feel every impact in IMAX and never got tired of that. I did notice a judder in framerate during HFR sequences but only once or twice. Also Cameron paying tribute to Titanic and The Abyss in the last section of the movie was definitely a Cameron thing. It's too bad the story and writing was meh at best to the point I was kind of bored at the halfway point (thankfully the last act was enough). But it kind of makes sense since the Avatar series is more of a technology vehicle for him. I was also quite disappointed in the soundtrack since the only memorable bits were from Horner's soundtrack in the first movie. The performances were good. Overall, the first movie I give a slight edge to. Well worth the cinematic experience. The Navi sized oakleys gave me a chuckle.
  3. I can't wait for all the spoken dialogue to take place during the atomic bomb testing.
  4. Finally had time to see this. Was shocked at how poorly paced and edited the movie was. One scene they suddenly teleported into a tent from the moon with zero transition. Lots of scenes were obviously cut. Also did we seriously need yet another movie of how Thor rediscovered himself? Film spends a lot of time desperately trying to hide from the darker themes and instead gets overloaded with a lot of poor jokes. Basically to sum up the plot, Thor leads an army of child soldiers to defeat a man who lost his daughter and was looking to destroy the people at the very top; elitist Gods.
  5. I thought it was an enjoyable film, but definitely not one of Pixar's greats. Feels like a Pixar short film with an idea that had to have it's plot stretched to fit a whole movie. Evans does a good job, but his character lacks the fun flavor from the main Toy Story movies. Peter Sohn did a fantastic job and easily steals the show. Some great visuals.
  6. I'm honestly impressed. This movie was so awful and boring it made Fallen Kingdom look somewhat better in comparison. Some nice dinosaur effects I guess.
  7. I finally had some time to see this. I enjoyed all the scary elements and Raimi stuff plus the brutal fights but the writing was def problematic. "I'm not a monster, I'm a mom" Also no Vision in any of the other universes, just her kids? Seriously? And the biggest difference they could think of for a different universe was apparently red and green lights being flipped. It's getting very obvious in this movie the heroes', and Wong's in particular powers scale by what plot element they need to fulfill. When Wanda made him give up the location of the tower by threatening 4 unnamed sorcerers after him saying she could control every universe I had some extreme eye roll there.
  8. Of course the night he wins best actor he manages to overshadow his own accomplishment with this instead.
  9. I got really confused when I first watched that, assumed it was scripted at first.
  10. Wow that was just impressively mediocre. Somehow made me miss Venom. It felt like a bad Netflix film that accidentally made it onto big screen. Some horribad CGI and a really disjointed plot that went all over the place. It's crazy you have this much talent mismanaged but then again this is Sony we're talking about.
  11. I don't think people realize how much of a huge deal this is: Now foreign clients are going to be left holding the bag because no doubt Russians will sell when it opens. and it'll be worthless. Investing in Russia is going to be too much risk for years to come.
  12. Feels like right amount of kinetic brutality and interestingly sometimes restrained. I mean I enjoyed them so I don't know what else big words I can use to describe them lol. They didn't feel hard to watch? They're cool? Sure. I love Nolan's films, but I admit his fight scenes in the Batman trilogy are shot very awkwardly sometimes, especially if it involved CQB.
  13. Gotta single out Pattinson here. If you've seen him in The Lighthouse or his other films his excellent performance won't really surprise you. He does a great job of showcasing his two personas much like the previous Waynes, but he feels like a man stuck in a horror show and has to figure his way out of the darkness, but while being consumed by said darkness. I do remember a few comments when he was casted that he was not right for the role (absolute bullshit by the way if you've seen his acting chops before) but he stands out in this. Feels like a new perspective on Batman in a way not really explored before in live action big screen (though there's some animated Batman films that also explores some of the themes here).
  14. Well have to say I didn't not notice the long running time. It flew by so quickly and was utterly engrossed in it. I loved it. Might be the best Batman film I've ever seen imo up there with TDK.
  15. Are you not excited for more scenes of Pratt holding his hand up at a dinosaur dramatically?
  16. I was finally excited to work on a production, but everything got pushed back today by a month again because half of our team is sick with covid.
  17. Oddly specific.... Don Corleone the next MCU hero?!
  18. I feel like we have gotten spoiled a bit by Endgame lol. Does no one forget that we're not in normal times, we're in the middle of a pandemic and NWH still managed to get the third highest opening weekend of all time?
  19. Well that was a movie that I watched. I can see what they were going for....but it was also trying a little too hard to explain the sequels. A lot of exposition that gives you the impression it was added to explain this or that rather than flow in the story naturally. Excellent performances from everyone and some interesting visual work. Not as much action as you'd expect. I have mixed feelings atm.
