Grabbed a Dolby ticket for GT on Sunday.
Was also looking at the screens for Oppie.. IMAX showings basically full (the theater near me gave GT the IMAX early morning and late evening time, and let Oppie keep the mid afternoon slots). These tix are usually like $20+ so not surprised.
Mid February with Titanic and Ant Man will probably steal a good amount, if not most, showings. We'll have to wait and see if it gets showings back later in the run.
Helvetica why
Tahoma, Calibri, Trebuchet, Roboto are top tier
Shout-out to the meme fonts like wingdings 3 and comic sans though. They have their place too.
Trying to look at comps from last year to see effect of CFB championship game, and I realize there are too many Monday holidays in these months, it difficult to pull a trend.
But looking at Mondays last year, Jan 10 (CFB) and Jan 24, (Jan 17 being MLK), the drops look fairly similar between the days.
I don't know how much the popularity of CFB ebbs and flows year-to-year though, or if this year was a more popular game.
Wasn't really paying attention to the game until about 30min after the injury. It's been scary to watch everyone's reactions on replays and as they talk about new updates.
Is there a way to see how other movies (NWH, TFA, etc.) were tracking at this point during the day on new years eve to see what kind of drop in the estimate we might expect this evening?
Don't know much about the tracking side, so idk if that's even really possible with the data
My gut says TFA's 90m 3rd weekend will be harder to beat. Inflation can catch Endgame's record before that imo.
Unless some odd release schedule gets an expansion in the 3rd weekend that still allows it to be on the chart (don't remember what the specifics are)
Saw it last night in a mostly empty theater. Wasn't 3D or any special screen, guessing that was a factor in the low attendance.
Going to see it again in Dolby 3D on Saturday, probably a much fuller theater.
Excited to watch the $$ over the next few weeks.
There was room for Avatar and Sherlock back in 2009. I think Pika will survive, although it might be muted a bit the first weekend.
At least, I'll spend one of my A-List tickets on it one of those weekends, hopefully it'll get a weekend in Dolby.
