I'm confused,how so matinee numbers?
The cinemas here in my country only open in the afternoon. I'm bothered
movie theaters here (eastern US) start showings at around 10am. matinee is movies til 5. I'm guessing these numbers are projections for all of matinee? 2.6m off 10am showings is pretty crazy I think.

reading this thread is hilarious. we really have no idea what to do with these matinee numbers.

about to?
I'd say the fire is already hot

LOL, here there is no such thing as intermissions, even on long movies.
and that's how I like it

even Maleficent and it's epic 97 minute runtime? ya can't sit for that long without getting fidgety? I imagine seeing Return of the King or something the intermission would come around the 100 minute mark or something, so that's crazy.
I think the extended version is like 240 minute runtime.

Given the fact these are sequels to the highest grossing film of all time that their combined budget is only 415m is kind of disappointing, that could in all honesty be the budget of one of them. It would look so good as well.
And I agree, the first Avatar has the best CGI still to date.
you can do a lot for 415m, and that doesn't include any marketing

alll that goodwill and success westerns got with movies like true grit and django unchained has promptly been shat upon by movies like this and the lone ranger. hooray.
now we really need hateful eight to happen.
At least we have cowboys and aliens

I just want to congratulate everyone else who was a part of the Dane DeHaan Revolution yesterday. Our victory is now immortalized in the form of that smiley.

They save a nontrivial amount by doing the movies together. Look at the LOTR trilogy, or 2nd/3rd pirates.
