  1. But studios don't get much say when their movies get released in China. It's up to the Chinese authorities.
  2. Steve McQueen Alfonso Cuaron David O. Russell Paul Greengrass Spike Jonze alt. Martin Scorsese
  3. More like they are getting rid off people all the time to save money. Sony will be laying off people next year, too. I'm thrilled how well Frozen is doing and since Gravity didn't managed to beat MoS in the US, I'd love to see Frozen to do it.
  4. That's not quite how the story went although close.
  5. X-Men: Days of Future Past Jennifer Lawrence Hugh Jackman Michael Fassbender Halle Berry Patrick Stewart Ian McKellen James McAvoy Anna Paquin Ellen Page Peter Dinklage Nicholas Hoult Omar Sy Fan Bingbing speaking of Altman Gosford Park Maggie Smith Michael Gambon Kristin Scott Thomas Charles Dance Jeremy Northam Geraldine Somerville Tom Hollander Bob Balaban Stephen Fry Kelly McDonald Ryan Philippe Clive Owen Helen Mirren Eileen Atkins Emily Watson Richard E. Grant Such a great British cast and used to be one of my favourite movies.
  6. Meanwhile the idiots at Marvel and DC can't stop jabbering about how movies with female heros fail at the box office and who needs Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman when you can do Doctor Strange and Aquaman instead.
  7. Well, he disliked SLP and it still did well at the box office and with awards bodies. Anyways, there were some boos, too and someone who saw the movie warned it can be quite divisive. So expect the reaction to be more mixed-positive.
  8. I wouldn't mind Scarlett getting a nomination if she had been in the movie from the beginning instead of replacing Samantha Morton in the post-production. It was Samantha who was on the set, acting with Joaquin. It was her voice Joaquin is seen reacting to so it would feel cheating giving Johansson a nomination while totally ignoring Morton's work in building the character.
  9. Don't forget Cobie Smulders. Dat Avengers' effect.
  10. A lot of black women will watch Best Man Holiday despite Taye and Terrence, not because of them.
  11. 12 Years a Slave American Hustle The Great Gatsby Catching Fire (hopefully the academy isn't too snobbish about the film, they don't usually like YA movies) Oz the Great and Powerful
  12. Well, Bale did clone himself in preparation for Prestige so maybe it's the clone that has back trouble.
  13. Lol. I wonder if Kirk Lazarus is Bale's big acting idol?
  14. Surprised to see no American Hustle on the list. You know, considering your signature and all.
  15. I've seen a lot of tv spots for The Counselor during nfl games this month.
  16. Kinda reminds me of female led superhero movies. Just before studios released two cheap and crappy ones (Elektra and Catwoman), it doesn't mean future ones would flop as well. If Katniss and Bella Swan can kick male superheros' ass at the bo, so can Wonderwoman.
  17. Well, I never claimed she the reason her movies disappoint domestically but she's a symptom they won't do well. Here are the budgets and domestic box office results: Year One: cost $60 million, made $43 million ($62 million WW) Fix: made $10 000 dollars Next Three Days: $30 million, $21 million Tron Legacy: $170 million, $172 million Cowboys and Aliens: $163 million, $100 million Change Up: $52 million, $37 million Time: $40 million, $37 million People Like Us: $16 million, made $12 million WW Words: $6 million, $13 million WW (however, had a wide release with more than $10 million in P&A) Butter: made less than $200 000 WW Deadfall: made $60 000 Incredible Burt Wonderstone: $30 million, made 25 million WW Olivia Wilde surely wasn't the biggest problem in any of the movies but if you hire her it's probably a sign all the bigger female names passed your project because it sucks and/or is unappealing to American GA and you'll struggle to make back the budget even when WW gross is taken into account. She doesn't have a fanbase or critical acclaim so her getting so many roles is kinda puzzling. More like maths/physics with the two negatives cancelling each other.
  18. I was expecting Rush to make more money but I guess it's my fault for underestimating Olivia Wilde's box office track record. She should make a movie with Taylor Kitsch, maybe they would cancel each other and the movie would become a big hit.
  19. Well, Relativity bought the film in Sundance for $10 million and put up $25 million P&A commitment so they surely expected more from the movie since they own only the domestic rights.
  20. Well, the article talks about those in most demand for tv (who are willing to consider tv and don't have a series already).
