  1. Fantastic Beasts only needs $170-190 million DOM and a similar OS number as the other HP films to hit $700 million WW. Should get 11 this year.
  2. The Magnificent Seven, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts and Sing all have a good chance at ending up here IMO. Passengers and Moana have outside chances. I'll say Magnificent Seven. It'll be the first major tentpole since August 5 and every Sept-Oct period since 2013 has had a $150 million+ DOM adult-targeting hit (Gravity, Gone Girl, The Martian).
  3. December 2016 is looking overall well-rounded, in terms of quality and BO (except Collateral Beauty and Space Between Us) Rogue One: $470 million Sing: $260 million La La Land: $175 million Passengers: $160 Million Fences: $110 million Office Christmas Party: $60 million A Monster Calls: $55 million Gold: $50 million Why Him?: $45 million Collateral Beauty: $35 million The Space Between Us: $25 million
  4. The lack of any major competition (and double features with Kubo) helped its late run significantly. Could do $4.5-$5 million over the 4-day and finish with $370 million DOM
  5. Sorry But with Spider-Man, Apes 3, Dunkirk and Jumanji all potentially combining for $850 million+ DOM, there's not much room for Valerian to succeed. It's also from a smaller studio and likely will be quite cheesy, so I doubt it'll succeed in the DOM market. I could see $150-250 million OS, though.
  6. Girl Trip will detract from any potential female appeal IMO. July 2017 is actually looking pretty solid (minus Valerian). I also don't think the untitled Disney fairy tale will stay in summer 2017 if Jumanji opens the same weekend. Spider-Man - Homecoming: $320 million War of the Planet of the Apes: $215 million Dunkirk: $210 million Jumanji: $155 million Girl Trip: $110 million Untitled Disney Fairy Tale: $75 million Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets: $20 million
  7. 9/2-9/5 Don't Breathe: $17 million/$22.5 million ($58 million) The Light Between Oceans: $8.5 million/$10.75 million Suicide Squad: $8.5 million/$11 million ($298 million) Kubo and the Two Strings: $8 million/$11 million ($39 million) Morgan: $7.5 million/$9.25 million Pete's Dragon: $7 million/$9.5 million ($67 million) Sausage Party: $6 million/$7 million ($91 million) Bad Moms: $5.5 million/$6.5 million ($103 million) Mechanic - Resurrection: $4.5 million/$5.25 million ($16 million) War Dogs: $4 million/$5 million ($35 million) 9/9-9/11 Sully: $27 million When the Bough Breaks: $14 million Don't Breathe: $9 million ($70 million) The Disappointments Room: $6 million The Wild Life: $5.5 million The Light Between Oceans: $5 million ($16 million) Kubo and the Two Strings: $4.5 million ($44 million) Suicide Squad: $4 million ($303 million) Pete's Dragon: $3.5 million ($71 million) Bad Moms: $3 million ($107 million) 9/16-9/18 Blair Witch: $38 million Sully: $17.5 million ($53 million) Bridget Jones' Diary: $13.5 million Hillsong - Let Hope Rise: $7 million Snowden: $6 million When the Bough Breaks: $5.5 million ($22 million) The Light Between Oceans: $4 million ($22 million) Kubo and the Two Strings: $3.5 million ($48 million) Don't Breathe: $3 million ($74 million) Pete's Dragon: $2.5 million ($74 million) 9/23-9/25 The Magnificent Seven: $65.5 million Storks: $45.5 million Blair Witch: $11.5 million ($55 million) Sully: $11 million ($69 million) Bridget Jones' Diary: $9 million ($27 million) Hillsong - Let Hope Rise: $5 million ($14 million) Snowden: $3 million ($10 million) The Light Between Oceans: $3 million ($26 million) When the Bough Breaks: $2.5 million ($26 million) Don't Breathe: $1.75 million ($76 million) 9/30-10/2 The Magnificent Seven: $36 million ($119 million) Storks: $27 million ($81 million) Deepwater Horizon: $24 million Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: $16 million Sully: $8 million ($81 million) Bridget Jones' Diary: $5.5 million ($35 million) Masterminds: $5 million Blair Witch: $4.5 million ($63 million) Hillsong - Let Hope Rise: $3 million ($18 million) The Light Between Oceans: $2 million ($29 million)
  8. My guess for the remaining $100 million+ DOM performers: 19. Bad Moms 20. Sausage Party 21. Sully 22. The Magnificent Seven 23. Storks 24. The Accountant 25. Doctor Strange 26. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 27. Trolls 28. Moana 29. Rogue One 30. Passengers 31. Sing 32. La La Land 33. Silence
  9. Ben-Hur: $21 million Kubo: $20 million War Dogs: $11 million
  10. I think Pete's Dragon opened soft enough for Kubo to be able to open to low 20s. I see both having tremendous legs due to glowing WOM and soft OWs. $90-105 million DOM is my guess for both, but it could easily be $65-80 million DOM, too. Ben-Hur should benefit from SS not having great WOM (but not 'toxic' WOM, either) and clearly being frontloaded (on top of not sharing the same tentpole demo). $65-70 million DOM should happen IMO.
  11. 8/12-8/14 Suicide Squad: $44 million ($225 million) Pete's Dragon: $33.5 million Sausage Party: $20.5 million Jason Bourne: $14 million ($127 million) Bad Moms: $11 million ($71 million) Florence Foster Jenkins: $7.5 million The Secret Life of Pets: $7 million ($334 million) Star Trek Beyond: $6 million ($139 million) Nine Lives: $3.5 million ($13 million) Lights Out: $3.5 million ($61 million) 8/19-8/21 Kubo and the Two Strings: $24 million Suicide Squad: $21.5 million ($261 million) Pete's Dragon: $17 million ($56 million) Ben-Hur: $15 million Sausage Party: $12 million ($39 million) War Dogs: $10 million Jason Bourne: $9 million ($141 million) Bad Moms: $8 million ($84 million) Florence Foster Jenkins: $6 million ($16 million) The Secret Life of Pets: $4 million ($339 million) 8/26-8/28 Kubo and the Two Strings: $17 million ($46 million) Pete's Dragon: $13.5 million ($74 million) Suicide Squad: $12.5 million ($280 million) Sausage Party: $9 million ($53 million) Ben-Hur: $8.5 million ($28 million) Don't Breathe: $7 million Bad Moms: $6.5 million ($93 million) Jason Bourne: $6 million ($150 million) War Dogs: $5 million ($18 million) Mechanic - Resurrection: $4.5 million 9/2-9/5 Kubo and the Two Strings: $18 million/$26 million ($76 million) Pete's Dragon: $14 million/$20 million ($97 million) The Light Between Oceans: $11.5 million/$15 million Suicide Squad: $10 million/$13 million ($298 million) Morgan: $9 million/$11 million Sausage Party: $7.5 million/$9.5 million ($66 million) Ben-Hur: $6 million/$7.5 million ($38 million) Bad Moms: $6 million/$7.5 million ($103 million) Jason Bourne: $5 million/$6.25 million ($159 million) War Dogs: $4 million/$5 million ($25 million)
  12. What did you expect? There's no action competition this next weekend and SS hurt everything other than Pets and Lights Out. 36% drop is pretty average in August. Wouldn't be surprised at sub-40% drops for Bourne until the weekend after Labor Day.
  13. MOANA will probably make it. It's the first Disney animated musical since FROZEN, so audiences will be excited. Miranda could get Oscar buzz and the Rock is one of the few draws in Hollywood these days.
  14. I don't see Bourne dropping 50%+ with minimal competition next weekend. Jenkins, Pete and Sausage don't really cross over with it (Ben-Hur is really the only upcoming August release in its demo). I'm not expecting a phenomenal hold, but a mid 30s-low 40s drop seems likely IMO. 8/12-8/14 Suicide Squad: $46.5 million ($228 million) Pete's Dragon: $27 million Sausage Party: $21 million Jason Bourne: $14.5 million ($130 million) Bad Moms: $9.5 million ($68 million) Florence Foster Jenkins: $8 million Star Trek Beyond: $6.5 million ($140 million) The Secret Life of Pets: $6 million ($328 million) Nine Lives: $3.5 million ($12 million) Lights Out: $3 million ($60 million) 8/19-8/21 Kubo and the Two Strings: $24 million Ben-Hur: $23 million Suicide Squad: $22 million ($262 million) Pete's Dragon: $14 million ($45 million) Sausage Party: $13 million ($41 million) War Dogs: $11 million Jason Bourne: $8.5 million ($142 million) Bad Moms: $7 million ($78 million) Florence Foster Jenkins: $6.5 million ($17 million) Star Trek Beyond: $4 million ($146 million) 8/26-8/28 Kubo and the Two Strings: $17.5 million ($47 million) Ben-Hur: $13.5 million ($42 million) Suicide Squad: $12 million ($280 million) Pete's Dragon: $11 million ($59 million) Sausage Party: $9 million ($55 million) Don't Breathe: $7.5 million War Dogs: $7 million ($21 million) Mechanic - Resurrection: $6 million Florence Foster Jenkins: $5.5 million ($25 million) Bad Moms: $5 million ($85 million) Jason Bourne: $5 million ($149 million) Hands of Stone: $4 million 9/2-9/5 Kubo and the Two Strings: $18 million/$26 million ($77 million) The Light Between Oceans: $14 million/$19.5 million Ben-Hur: $11 million/$15 million ($61 million) Pete's Dragon: $10 million/$14.5 million ($76 million) Suicide Squad: $8 million/$10.5 million ($295 million) Sausage Party: $7.5 million/$10 million ($68 million) Morgan: $7 million/$8.5 million War Dogs: $6 million/$7.5 million ($32 million) Solace: $5.5 million/$6.5 million Florence Foster Jenkins: $5 million/$6.5 million ($33 million) Bad Moms: $4 million/$5 million ($92 million) Jason Bourne: $4 million/$5 million Don't Breathe: $3.5 million/$4.25 million ($13 million)
  15. I'm pretty sure Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third and POTC3 (all adjusted for inflation) share that dubious title
  16. I felt about the same. All those action scenes and yet nothing to justify Bourne's return after 9 years. I expected more and it revealed very little about his past while also preventing Tommy Lee Jones from chewing scenery as he does best in these kinds of films.
  17. $10.5 million ($317 million) $5 million ($325 million) $3 million ($328 million) $2.25 million ($331 million) $3 million/$3.75 million ($335 million) $342-347 million DOM is my range since I see it having a lengthy second-run showing. All around, a solid run. How about you @MinaTakla?
  18. 8/5-8/7 Suicide Squad: $143 million Jason Bourne: $29 million ($117 million) Bad Moms: $15.5 million ($53 million) The Secret Life of Pets: $11 million ($316 million) Star Trek Beyond: $10.5 million ($126 million) Nine Lives: $6.5 million Lights Out: $6 million ($54 million) Ice Age - Collision Course: $5.5 million ($52 million) Nerve: $4.5 million ($24 million) Ghostbusters: $4 million ($114 million) 8/12-8/14 Suicide Squad: $55 million ($244 million) Pete's Dragon: $27.5 million Sausage Party: $22 million Jason Bourne: $19 million ($150 million) Florence Foster Jenkins: $15 million Bad Moms: $10 million ($69 million) Star Trek Beyond: $8 million ($139 million) The Secret Life of Pets: $5 million ($324 million) Nine Lives: $4 million ($12 million) Lights Out: $3 million ($59 million) 8/19-8/21 Suicide Squad: $30.5 million ($290 million) Kubo and the Two Strings: $25 million Ben-Hur: $16 million Pete's Dragon: $14.5 million ($47 million) Florence Foster Jenkins: $11 million ($31 million) Jason Bourne: $10.5 million ($165 million) Sausage Party: $10 million ($38 million) War Dogs: $9 million Bad Moms: $6 million ($78 million) Star Trek Beyond: $5 million ($146 million) 8/26-8/28 Suicide Squad: $20 million ($320 million) Kubo and the Two Strings: $18 million ($48 million) Pete's Dragon: $11 million ($61 million) Ben-Hur: $10 million ($31 million) Florence Foster Jenkins: $9 million ($44 million) Jason Bourne: $8 million ($177 million) Don't Breathe: $7.5 million War Dogs: $7 million ($21 million) Sausage Party: $6.5 million ($48 million) Mechanic - Resurrection: $6 million Bad Moms: $5 million ($85 million) Hands of Stone: $4 million Star Trek Beyond: $3.5 million ($151 million) 9/2-9/5 Kubo and the Two Strings: $18.5 million/$26 million ($78 million) Suicide Squad: $16 million/$21 million ($349 million) The Light Between Oceans: $12 million/$15.5 million Pete's Dragon: $10.5 million/$14.5 million ($79 million) Morgan: $8 million/$10 million Florence Foster Jenkins: $7.5 million/$9 million ($56 million) Jason Bourne: $7 million/$8.5 million ($188 million) Ben-Hur: $6.5 million/$8 million ($42 million) War Dogs: $5 million/$6 million ($30 million) Bad Moms: $4.75 million/$5.5 million ($93 million) Sausage Party: $4.5 million/$5.25 million ($56 million) Solace: $4 million/$5 million Don't Breathe: $3.5 million/$4 million ($13 million) Mechanic - Resurrection: $3 million/$3.5 million ($11 million) Star Trek Beyond: $2.5 million/$3 million ($155 million)
  19. Finding Dory and Secret Life of Pets are having solid leggy runs. Both will finish above a 3x.
