  1. Huh, so I guess the shimmer mutates beings not just physically but one’s mental state takes a part in it? It’s interesting, also interesting at the flower girl if that was really her decision or if the shimmer had also in a sense made her lose her mind and give in.
  2. Interesting. I wonder if I missed why perhaps she turned into a plant and the others didn’t. Like was it just random? Or did she touch something? And how did the guy get that live thin in his stomach?
  3. Oh yeah, she was def cheating no doubt. I was just confused about what it had to do with the main plot line other then just knowing more about her character. Also on a side note, I wished we could have scene what happened to the girl that was growing plants on her arm. Are we to assume she ended up like the plant humaniod figures we saw? And if that’s the case, then all those were once real people?
  4. Well, that was definitely an entertaining, yet weird movie (but it works). I went in trying to keep my expectations in check as I’ve been wanting to see this movie forever. And for the most part, it lived up to my expectations. There were some parts I loved, some parts that were okay, and some parts in general where I felt a little more was needed, but just slightly. There really wasn’t a part in my mind where I genuinly disliked it. I thought Natalie Portman was good in this, not fantastic or anything but very engaging and good. As for the rest, I do feel like the other characters were somewhat under developed. We really don’t know much about the motives of each character for why they would go in (other than Portman and the other woman who lost her daughter/husband. I guess it’s assumed to the viewer that her motive is that she doesn’t give a shit?). The lead soldier, the one who Portman first saw, I’m not sure if why ever got a reason for why she was so stubborn on going to the light house or even why she’d wanted to go in in general? Other than just “well, it keeps getting closer so....guess I might as well go in and try to stop it”? Also, not too sure what the flashbacks of her cheating on her husband had to do with the story at hand. Was it coorelating to what the head lady (sorry, I’m bad with names) was saying about how people are always self destructing themselves vis drinking, drugs, or aka ruining a good marriage (she made some sort of comment about marriage, like she new portman was cheating). Was it just so the viewer had a deeper understanding of Portman’s character? It just felt weird as to me I liked the info, but didn’t know how it coorelated to what was happening. By far, the bear scene when they were tied up was FANTASTIC and by far the most chilling piece of the film. The way they were able to formulate the screams but also mix in enough of a bear growl was spot on. I was glued to my seat that entire time. I just wished in someway, we had more of that eeriness in the film. However with that said, sometimes a film doesn’t have to show the viewer everything or explain everything, especially when it comes to sci fi. I think it comes with the lore, it brings about mystery leaving the screen and having the viewers have their own opinion for imagination (kind of what authors do for books). I at first was turned off by the ending when the woman basically looked like she was vomiting lights in the air. I was a bit turned off by that. However, I absolutely loved what followed it, the whole sequence if portman vs the “thing” and how t simply mimicked her every move. The look of it was perfect to me, it had a very unsettling matter to it that had me on edge. However, when portman tricked it, I actually genuinly felt bad for it weird enough. So did the glimmer die at the end? That’s what it looked like. Overall, I liked it very much. And after leaving the theater I immediantly wanted to see it again. I’d give it a solid A-, 9/10.
  5. I mean, I get some of it and how she did it, but it just seems unrealistic she’d plant it so perfectly and also that they’d just believe her and not see through it.
  6. Intense thriller, Jennifer Lawrence clearly steals the show with superb acting. Some very intense/disturbing scenes. Some flaws in plot and script but overall a very satisfyng film (have to resee as end was a bit confusing). Overall a strong A-, 8.5/10
  7. Saw this a few days ago. Overall I liked it. I'm not a big Marvel fan or know much, but it was an entertaining movie and to me much different than previous Marvel films. It wasn't too overly funny which I usually find Marvel over does it. I actually felt at times the film did a good job hitting you with the emotional strings, I actually felt really bad for the antagonist in this. It's rare in a movie where a film actually makes the antagonist in the right (so to speak) vs. the hero. Speaking of the hero, I liked his journey throughout the movie, believing in what his ancestors believed (aka, helping your own people) into eventually growing into his own beliefs (helping other people) from mistakes. Overall it's a pretty solid film. I wouldn't rant about it being a masterpiece like some, but it's a solid hero flick that was done up very well and unique. I'd give it a solid B, 7.5/10.
  8. Just got of this, have to say I really enjoyed it. Sure, is it a but corny and cliched? Sure. However it was very cute and well done. I loved all the Rabbits, thought the animation was well done and the acting funny and enjoyable by both lead actor/actress. The film was very funny throughout and I had a great time, would see it again in a heartbeat. Overall A, 9/10 for me
  9. Just saw this, not much to really say (which.....isn’t a good thing). It’s okay, but really forgettable. All the scares in this film are jump scares (which was really annoying) and makes very little attempt outside of the scares of making the film feel scary or even uncomfortable. I found myself constantly checking my phone as the film wasn’t really that engaging. Overall, I’ll give it a C- as although from my review you’d think it were F worthy it wasn’t garbage. It’s decent enough I guess to pass the time if you had nothing better to do, but at the same breath don’t really feel the need to see it again.....or anytime soon rather. 4/10
  10. Eh, not super close to boston. I’d say about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. I go to a local movie chain at my mall.
  11. Ah, speaking of the devil: I just ordered my moviepass yesterday as a friend told me about it. So it's 9.95 a month and you can see unlimited amount of movies? Seems to good to be true and a huge cost saver.
  12. So, I decided that I'm going to put in a huge effort into trying to watch as movies as I can for 2018 and so forth. I love reading/watching people's of their top movies of the year either on here or on Youtube. It's not going to be easy as I'm not on here a whole lot and don't have a lot of down time due to work, but I've decided that on my days off I'm going to watch a ton of movies. My only dilemma is cost: I ordered a moviepass card (takes two weeks to get in), as a friend of mine told me about it. It's ten dollars a month and apparently you can see unlimited amount of movies, even new movies (doesn't count for 3D, which is fine with me). Seems to good to be true, but I hope so as my only concern with seeing like, 30-40 movies this year is that it's going to be fucking expensive as hell. Wasn't sure if that's just what some of you do on here, or if there's some way or card some of you use as well to make it cheaper?
  13. I saw this yesterday, didn't know it was out for a bit. I went in knowing very little other than just seeing the poster online, that's it. I do like Toro's imagery and art in this, it's very unique in a way and it was pleasing to the eye. Hawkins does an outstanding job playing Eliza who isn't deaf but mute due to some reason with her throat that I don't think was explained (or I missed it). The beginning is a bit off, took a bit for it to set root with me on what was going on. The design of the creature was cool, I liked the look of it and I hope all other directors take notes to follow Toro's lead vs. the CGI crap we always get. With that said, I kind of walked out of the movie feeling eh, it was alright. Maybe it's a generation thing but the movie just felt very weird to me. I found Eliza's romance with the creature to be sped way to fast, she just without reason is drawn to it and then all of a sudden the creature after one egg likes her? And the dream of her dancing with it on stage and having sex with it? Eh, it just felt very odd and uncomfortable (I'm not saying this in a derogatory way for those that did like this, it just wasn't my cup of tea). Overall, the film was just okay for me, though I won't lie........the part when the creature ate the cat's head......I legit almost walked out of the theater as my mouth was on the legit floor and my heart exploded (I'm a cat freak). I think it was the saddest and most teary eyed I got throughout the whole movie. With that said, it wasn't bad but at the same time it won't stick with me at all. I just didn't get any connection with any of the characters at all, and I'm not sure why other than that perhaps the film just didn't settle for me and thus my interest lacked. I'd give it a B-, 6//10 overall
  14. I saw this a few days ago. It’s nowhere near Robin William’s Jumangi classic (one of my most fav movies), however it never tried to be. It did it’s own original take, aka being inside the game and being in a more modern format of a video game. Overall the characters were fine, especially the adult cast. I thought each did a fine job, Black was a standout. I think the most funniest part though goes to the female actress when she tried to flirt with the guys (also the lessons prior were funny, it kind of hit home with me as I’m terrible at flirting). I literally was peeing myself! I will say The Rock for me felt like the least developed/stand out. I’m not sure if the others were just better/had better material to work with, or he was just bland. The story was okay, nothing great but not terrible. Perhaps if anything the villain seemed pretty boring and not very interesting (unlike the soldier in the other jumangi, I actually felt menace radiating from him and felt his prensence). It just seemed like the heroes just did what they wanted easily. Also, I didn’t really like the idea of the game board just randomly turning itself into a video game console for no reason whatsoever. I would of preferred had the director just took away the first part of them finding the board on the beach (trying to connect it to the original), and instead just make up it’s own origin like it being in a video game shop “but not on sale” and perhaps main character steals it or something. And how did the game get in the school anyhoo when it was in the “freaky house”? Overall it’s a film that if you are walking into it comparing to the original, you’ll be dissapointed. If you walk into it however with an open mind, you’ll be surprised to find that it can be a fun movie to pass the hours. Overall I gave it a B-, 6.5/10
  15. @Ethan Hunt , I bought you and Steel city a present
  16. I know how you feel man.....I don't want to play the Titans as well!
  17. Oh the Chiefs Meanwhile, the Rams are looking like turds on offense.
  18. 40 A's........100% rating here?...... Has that ever happened before?...
  19. Just finished watching this, and I'm so glad I got around to watching it. This film is just gorgeous, the artwork and design is phenomenal. It can be a bit confusing at first what's going on due to the concept of time traveling (time traveling has always been something I'm not fond of, simply because it makes my brain hurt), and trust me after the film I really had to think about it in order for it to make sense. However, this film is beautifully told as the writing is perfect and the music to go with it is just soothingly perfect. It has very funny humor bits when needed to lighten the mood, and always kept me guess what was going to happen. For any anime lovers, this is a film you'll want to see. A+ overall, 9.5/10
  20. Yes!!! I ship it! Perhaps I'll draw up some Baumer-City roleplay art.......I know where Baumer lives....
