Do you think Deadpool can beat DOFP when it's out in May?

It has a good chance.  First entries tend to do better than sequels, I think it can do about 80% of GotG seeing as the market is probably down 20% since 2014.  90M$ would be a good target between the HV release date and the sequel release date (2 year span).

So GOTG was at 125M$ before it got it's sequel bump and 80% of that is 99M$.  DP was at 100M$ when the sequel got released.  I believe I nailed that one!

    Yes.

He was re-introduced in the Clone Wars tv show at the end of Season 4 (with a robotic lower half) and was a recurring villain in the final main season (not counting the truncated season 6 that was dumped onto Netflix). He then returned at the very end of Season 2 of the Rebels tv show and again recurred as a villain in a few Season 3 episodes until Obi-Wan killed him on Tatooine in the penultimate episode in 5 seconds.

That scene was very well done.  It showed the motivation of both characters and also the wit and mastery of Obiwan.  Tricking Maul by using the same stance as Qui Gonn and Maul falling for it is simply awesome.

Well done Rebels and well done LF for making this cannon to the GA.

  3. @Water Bottle as a huge SW fan, I tend to tune out the bad parts and focus on the good parts more.  This would be the reason why the prequels rank much higher in my rankings.

I'm really not a fan of the pacing that ANH has.  I understand it's a very different movie era, but I just can't rewatch it.

I can think of some big recent flicks that felt like something a lot more than an "unnecessary but fun ride".  Fury Road, Bladerunner 2049, The Martian, Logan, Interstellar, War for Planet of the Apes.. etc.  I think thats the problem with these new Star Wars flick is that they have a superficiality to them and feel more like mere products with checklists(even TLJ to a degree) than movies and I suspect it'll get worse as Disney rolls them off the assembly line 1-2 times per year.  I mean really... Han Solo, Boba Fett, Obi-wan, and Yoda movies are in the works?  How fucking boring is that?  Why not *gasp* come up with something entirely new?  If Disney really wants to make a thousand Star Wars movies, then why not come up with entirely new stories with new characters without any connections to stuff we've already seen?  Set it a 2000 years past the events of the OT or in the future if you have to.   I understand that would require some risk and creativity, but this nostalgia surfboard that they're currently on isn't gonna last.

They took a huge risk with how they handled TLJ and look what happened...  they need to play safe.  Go back to rehashing the OT like they did with TFA.  Fans are still praising TFA like it's the Holy Grail...Disney go back to just rebooting the OT like you did with TFA.

Solo recast main characters. That's a turn-off. RO didn't recast anyone. It had a new set of bland characters but as long as the movie doesn't shit on old favorites audience is receptive. One of reasons for TLJ discord is what was done to Luke. I think that LF underestimated the level of Ford/Han identification (this isn't Batman or Bond that could be played by various actors).

    Pretty sure Tarkin was recast...

I thought there was  a chance for a big break out and a return to MI2 heights after Protocol's success but it just didn't grow from there.  I don't see making a big enough leap domestically to hit that MI2 high again - a pity since the last couple have been so great and MI2 stinks.

It's going to have a pretty clear August, so if reception is good, legs could be strong.  Although getting in the top 5 DOM this year will probably require between 375M-425M.  Even top 10 could be a stretch for a well received MI:F
