  1. lol there is no way 250 is happening. absolutely none. Rogue One is coming. and 230 isn't locked.
  2. FB run has been a lot of fun. After OW there was a lot of talk of this missing 200 (and rightfully so, I was even nervous it would play like an HP film) but we're definitely looking at 220 and MAYBE 230 domestic. WB has to be happy with that number.
  3. hahahah what other expression is he supposed to use? we're to the point in FB run where 15-25 million more is a LOT of cash. if a month ago you said 210 and he said 225 thats one thing, but were 165 million in, and that 15-25 million that you're under predicting against all logic makes all the difference at this point. And if you agree that its not that much anyway, just up your prediction like any sensible analyst would and call it a day.
  4. Just a fantastic hold for FB, there were several people here saying it would have a 60%+ drop second weekend. There's absolutely no denying that WOM is very, very strong. I still don't think this is a family film, or drawing them in, I simply think there wasn't a rush factor for this among HP fans. They WOULD see it, they just didn't necessarily see it opening weekend. Interested to see if the demo break downs for this weekend are the same as last.
  5. Look at FB being a Niffler and getting. dat. coin.
  6. Really loved the film. The best praise I can give it is that it gave me the same feeling I would get whenever I finished a Potter book for the first time. It's a kind of warmth that's quite hard to find in life. The only real critique I have of the film is that the last three to five minutes felt like several different endings. It didn't bother me too much, but it was a bit distracting. A-. Cannot WAIT for the sequel. Also, I have a theory on a major plotline for the sequels: The less surprising of it is that I think Ariana Dumbledore was an obscurus. She died very similarly to how those are created. But I also think obscurials eventually become dementors. I think it's the only real explanation of why we never heard of them in the 7 Potter books (wizards don't need to supress their powers anymore, so they either don't exist or are VERY rare). It would make sense as to why Dumbledore hated dementors so much...his sister (who's death he had fault in) eventually became one.
  7. I got to go on opening day back in 2010 and it was INSANELY crowded but so worth it. Rode the Hulk with Tom Felton. We tried to get into the press opening the night before but it was a no go. Still we sat outside and listened to the opening ceremony. If you've never seen it watch this. John Williams and a full orchestra were by the castle playing the score live.
  8. It would make sense. Even though that's a big attraction in terms of size it was there well before WW and needs an update. I could see them putting in another coaster thats FB themed. When I left the theater on Thursday I told my friend 'i can already see WB doing two things: selling the SHIT out of those wand tipped clear umbrellas and making a dope ride where you tour Newt's briefcase. And to any fan who hasn't been to the Orlando park it is an absolute must. I've never seen anything like it in terms of sheer immersion.
  9. In the U.S., Fantastic Beasts played notably older than the final two Harry Potter movies, with 65 percent of the audience over the age of 25 compared to 56 percent and 55 percent for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 and Part 2, respectively. At the same time, there was a large concentration of moviegoers in the 25-35 age range, with 55 percent of Friday's audience under the age of 35. Clutch excerpt from THR that I think makes sense in the way that this is performing. What a joy to have been a Potter fan from the beginning and literally age with a franchise. There really is nothing else like the feeling.
  10. I've had 3 different people text me today saying they loved FB. All three are just casual fans of the series, they just know how much I love Potter and are letting me know. Seems like good WOM is real.
  11. Lol, there is literally no proof of that being the case. WOM seems to be great so far and those that have seen it seem to be on board for the franchise.
  12. does anyone know if this is good? I don't follow international as much. I believe it opened in the UK yesterday correct?
  13. you're right. it's multiplier is better than I originally thought. still, I don't see why FB should have a tough time hitting it. Clearly this is sparking some GA interest which is very good news.
  14. The “Harry Potter” spinoff from Warner Bros. earned $29.7 million on Friday at 4,144 locations, and is expected to earn a hefty $76 million by the end of the weekend. - Variety
  15. Let's go right in the middle and say it does 75. Using Mockingjay comps (which I think FB should hold a bit better) we get something like: M - 6.84 T - 9.09 W - 10.9 TH - 8.18 F - 16.85 S - 16 SU - 8.32 That gets it to 151.18 by next Sunday. I don't see any reason why it should hold as poorly as TMJ2 did but I think this give us an idea of the absolute floor. I can't see it missing 200 even with all of the competition until Rogue One.
