  5. When Inside Out won last time, I thought it was mostly due to recency bias, but I guess this cements that you guys really love this movie. I like it too, a lot, but it's definitely not what I expect to see when I think "best animated movie of all time." Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy with how this list turned out and to see my personal favorites Toy Story 3 and Wall-E rise to be right behind the top 3. Maybe next time we'll get them even higher. ;)

If anyone's interested, I've compiled the list on Letterboxd because I love their formatting. Link here:

    43rd - Coraline: 18 Votes, 1 Top 5, 278 points

    Previous List - 48th

The penultimate film on the list I have not seen.

Yep, not something random from Japan, i reasonably widely known animated film. This is one of 4 films that I tend to associate with Tim Burton without ever really bothering to double check if they are actually Burton stories (along with Frankenweenie, Nightmare before Xmas and Corpse Bride - the only one of which I have seen being Corpse Bride... no wait I've seen Nightmare too)

Coraline has the visual to suggest that if you like the films in the brackets, then you'll likely like this one too and thus it is surprising that I have not ever found time to watch it as evidence suggests that I would be a fan and thus this film would have been up in the ... wait actually only 1 place higher probably.

It's Halloween season, so now would be the perfect time to watch it. ;) It's really fantastic and definitely one of the creepiest Western animated movies.

Also, both Nightmare before Christmas and Coraline were directed by Henry Selick. Poor guy always gets overshadowed by Tim Burton and is never given the credit he's due.

  10. Not usually a fan of Ghbili films (or anime for that matter), but Ponyo was so gorgeous and cute I couldn't help but fall in love with it. I believe it;s the highest-ranked anime film on my list. Kiki's alright but somewhat uneventful. Haven't seen Nausica and Castle in the Sky yet. Tarzan is amazing of course, but I'm a Disney fanboy. :P
