  1. I don't know LK can break 600 pretty easily the original sold almost 90 million tickets per BOM. It's also the animated movie nothing else really compares in terms of popularity and nostalgia
  2. I was thinking to make LK over E9 domestic and WW for 2019 does anyone else think it will happen?
  3. I mean it didn't compared to Rogue One. This 4-day weekend, The Last Jedi outperformed Rogue One by 4.4%, and it'd need to outperform Rogue One by 39% every single day for the rest of its run to reach $660m, which would give it a 3x multiplier. It won't touch that now.
  4. Yes they will if they projected it higher, corporations move on expectation of profit not actual profit if it didn't meet their expectation it is a disappointment. Look at the new battlefront game it has good sales but because of controversy its ales are nowhere near what was projected and EA is suffering despite the fact they are making a profit
  5. Moving goalposts are always nice I remember OW people were saying at least better than avatar now 650 looks in doubt and Jumanji will beat it next weekend
  6. I mean it makes sense if someone really wants to like something they will overlook somethings they may notice later. But beyond that outside of the opening weekend the numbers for TLJ have not been that good
  7. The data is its holds and the numbers it is doing in the end that's the only real data. And those aren't that good
  8. That's why I think runtime, like release date is overrated if you build it they will come. TLJ just isn't at that level
  9. The box office is great in a vacuum, but it's holds have not been and it might not pass JW or even win the year WW, whatever the polls there was clearly at least some form of a backlash. I hope we can agree that general audience reaction has not been as great as those polls nor as poor as RT audience poll, a middle ground
  10. When in combination with a not representative population both in terms of being in cities and the audience who goes to a STAR WARS move opening night in tends to skew a poll. Most polling is voluntary but it is random this is not.
  11. Are you really going to make me look through that thread again man, you dismiseed every audience ranking I recall mentioning RT, Reddit, the futurist's french website, metacritic, as potential evidence that WOM would be divisive you dismissed them all as brigaded and trolled and said WOM would be fantastic. Do you deny that
  12. It it is not as that is not a random sample, the choice to answer is voluntary, the people it is polling, opening night are not representative of the general population, and so on and so forth you can poke so many holes in their methodology
  13. Eh in the early stages of the spoiler thread he kept insiiting that the reception wasn't mixed and that anyone saying that was a blind fanboy you can go check if you want
  14. I mean outside of the numbers which you have access to, you have been wrong every step of the way regarding the reception of this film. 9 will break 450 easily but it could very well do under 8
  15. To a certain extent AOU was considered a disappointment as well. It is not about the raw money it is a bout expectation of money I'm sure disney projected more than that for the Last Jedi coming off TFA, in a vacuum it's a huge success but life isn't in a vacuum people expected more for the movie hell THR was reporting, wrongly, 750-800 as late as last weekend
  16. The problem is what is the hook for the next movie what is going to drive people in. This movie ended pretty much every plot thread
  17. I saw it am conflicted the highs were high but the lows were low, wtf was the casino scene did ryan feel the need to insert a really hamfisted political message ( I'm fine with politics and subtext but this was pretty blatant) but beyond that the story never seemed to click the entirety of Finn and Rose scenes were pointless. The jedi scenes were great but I didn't like the decisions they made with Luke. Overall the movie was fine I guess I wouldn't watch it again, just feeling disappointed the with story and that all the threads from seven were abandoned. 6.5/10 just disappointed
