  3. So far strongly disagree with the whole list (with a slight exception to elm street) But then again, I don't think a film can brainwash people into liking them.
  4. Looks about right, I'm thinking it's something like Likelihood for nom rankings Near-Locks (nothing is ever truly locked till it gets the award) 1.Boyhood 2.Birdman 3.The Imitation Game 4.The Grand Budapest Hotel 5.The Theory of Everything Fighting For the Last Spots (depends on nom number) 6.Whiplash 7.Gone Girl 8.American Sniper 9.Selma 10.Nightcrawler 11.Foxcatcher Outside possibilities 12.Mr. Turner 13.Into the Woods 14.Interstellar 15.Unbroken 16.Wild 17.A Most Violent Year
  5. I can't see 60m, but 40-mid 50m should be in play, especially if it gets a BP nomination (which looks possible right now)
  6. Taken numbers are very strong given how disliked taken 2 was and given this is January. (40m opening in January is very strong) Next weekend will be a big determining factor. Will Selma and Imitation pull good increases? Can some of the more run Oscar contenders rebound back up to decent numbers (Theory and Gone Girl going over 1-2m)? How will the four openers do?
  7. I bet 50 points to two people American Sniper, Paddington, Blackhat, and the Wedding Ringer all open over 12.5m 3 day I bet 50 points to two people Selma increases next weekend I bet 50 points to two people Fifty Shades of Grey opens over 50m
  8. I really enjoyed this, funny and cynical near the end. A great dissection of the music industry.
  9. Obviously the Transformers films brainwashed the American public into liking them, and they only started to realize after the fourth installment of the bayfest. (Hence the giant domestic drop) To bad the Chinese will keep the franchise alive because they are more brainwashable than Americans. Not surprising because their government(s) have done it for thousands of years
  10. A Most Violent Year isn't getting nominated for anything but maybe Supporting Actress. And The Theory of Everything and Grand Budapest are locked, they aren't missing.
  11. Not saying it would, but it's getting a lot of guild attention for a Marvel film. Historically the film with the most academy love for other subjects tends to win here and there's no best picture nominee in this category. Guardians is locked for make up and hairstyling, and has a good chance at sneaking in for sound and production design nom's. It also has an off chance for an editing and screenplay nom based off guild nominations. Interstellar is really falling flat, even in categories where it was thought a shoe in, and this will likely be the only nomination for dawn. I'd personally give it to Dawn, but Guardians has real potential to upset in this category.
  12. Don't call boyhood or Birdman one trick ponies until you actually see them. There's much more to them than their "gimmicks", which aren't even gimmicks btw but more of an extra layer of excellency.
