  1. Well I guess given your age anything not released this year or last year will be kid-oriented. So nothing to appalling as of yet!
  2. In Tolkiens novels all the races are defined by specific archetypes, greed being one of those for a dwarf. The dwarves greed is what brought smaug in the first place.
  3. Oh are we talking about tears? I definitely shed tears while watching smaug and five armies, but they probably weren't for the intended reasons.
  4. I'm not praising gotg for its emotional complexity I'm just saying there's a whole lot more emotional resonance than the hobbit. (Which doesn't say much because the hobbit has 0 emotional resonance.)
  5. Quill and his mother and Groot's big scenes had 1000x more emotional resonance than anything emotional in the three hobbit movies combined.
  6. I bet 50 Points Unbroken opening day is over the Secret Life of Walter Mitty OD 2 people I bet 50 points Into the Woods OW over Wolf of Wall Street and Walter Mitty's OW combined 2 people
  7. Gotg is one of the best movies of the year hands down. That's why its word of mouth prevailed despite the competition unlike the other 90m openers of the summer.
  8. Those would be interesting lists to compare. I'm not sure when I'll do mine, I may start it around the 1st or 2nd after I am done with my best/worst of the year lists.
  9. Beat me to the punch, but I wasn't planning on doing this until after I did my top films of the year so go ahead.
  10. I understand, I've watched similar themes before with other movies and have been through that time when you just need to get away. I don't know, I guess I just found it a bit too by the numbers for it to really hit like I thought it should have (because technically it's a very well-made and clean movie).
  11. I got out of Wild and strangely my opinion of it is nearly identical to Dallas Buyer's Club. It was a very well made movie technically and was very clean in nearly all aspects of it. The acting is top notch and Witherspoon has a very clear and clean arc, the script is focused and tight. But despite all of this the movie (like DBC for me) didn't really have that impactful punch that I'd expect out of a drama like this. It's still a strong film that keeps you invested and watching, but it never had me overly caring to the point where I should have been. B/B+
  12. Lord of the Rings trumps anything Nolan has made HOWEVER Nolan has not made the atrocities called the Hobbit and Lovely Bones. Nolan wins for consistency.
  13. It saddens me to see Grand Budapest behind Trans4mers on any list, but it's Baumer's list.
  14. 16. I'll bet 50 points to two people The Interview ends up being released sometime before the end of April 2015 in theaters
  17. 1.The Interview 2.Selma 3.Foxcatcher 4.Star Wars: The Force Awakens 5.Tomorrowland 6.Inside Out 7.Minions 8.In the Heart of the Sea 9.Kingsman: The Secret Service 10.The Avengers: Age of Ultron
  18. I would definitely consider Serkis the lead, Clarke is in it a lot though, possible a co-lead.
  19. FYC Most headache inducing box office run and favorite box office run The Interview
  20. I really feel like Azog is one of the most tacked on franchise villains in a long time, he's very boring and plays by the numbers, you could tell he was really only there to give a named face of a villain once Smaug died.
