  2. People bring up the "First time in x since it happened" as if it actually matters. Just because something hasn't happened often doesn't mean there are exceptions or bucks to a trend.

  4. Patricia Arquette is currently in the lead to win the Oscar not just be nominated, and Ethan Hawke is about the only one I can see actually pulling an upset on Simmons (although I doubt it)
  5. How would Boyhood not get more than 5? It's all but locked for Picture, Director, Supp actor and actress, Screenplay, and Editing. (Some nom chances elsewhere as well)

  10. Well it's looking like we Gone Girl or Into the Woods are the only 100m films with Oscar nom chances.
  11. Linklater Alejandro Ava DuVerney Whoever directed Imitation Bait Wes Anderson This is starting to look like Linklater's to lose (and I would be 100% supportive of it, he deserves it)
  12. So you're saying Anniston or Swank were better than her? No, if TFIOS wasn't a young adult film then Woodley would have been a shoe in.
  13. The big question now, is Duvall going to make it in? I'm still thinking he'll miss.
  14. Everything is shaping up for Boyhood to win. Nominee likelihood is looking like 1.Boyhood 2.Birdman 3.The Imitation Game 4.The Theory of Everything 5.The Grand Budapest Hotel 6.Selma 7.Foxcatcher 8.Whiplash 9.Gone Girl 10.Into the Woods 11.St Vincent 12.Big Eyes Unbroken and American Sniper are dead.
  15. I definitely agree with that. I was having a slim hope Woodley might get in, however these nominations as a whole are a bit confusing. For example, no Selma. I am happy Unbroken missed though.
  16. Such a sham really, Oscar bait that doesn't live up to the hype really should be treated as such.
  17. It's hard to see how Unbroken is locked, the reviews are very poor for this type of film. If it got in it looks like it'd be as bad as Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close making it in. Because Unbroken is blatant, unapologetic Oscar bait and the reviews are telling it as of now.
  18. Juliane Moore has won about 25% of the critic awards though. Nobody is really sweeping this year. Boyhood, Arquette, and Linklater have been the most consistent.
  19. If Unbroken gets nominated over Budapest or Gone Girl I will gag.
  20. I don't get mad when blockbusters aren't nominated, but I do get mad when deserving ones are snubbed because they aren't seem artsy enough. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Andy Serkis are definitely deserving nods by academy standards, yet they won't even be considered because it's a franchise. The LEGO Movie is deserving of a nod but it won't be considered because it's animated and not Disney. I also get mad when smaller films like Snowpiercer or The Grand Budapest Hotel get snubbed because of release dates and them not being studio films. But in the end it doesn't matter. I don't care in the end what the academy picks through politics. Even if my favorite wins I don't really care too much, my favorite is still my favorite with or without a gold statue.
  21. Meh, NA has lots of religious groups that will run and see it for the first two days or so before word gets around that it's not that flattering to the actual biblical story.
  22. Actually, yes. After Jaime and Brienne's storyline I found myself liking him and it kind of sickened me. I actually don't even hate Cersei as much, I still think she's cruel and needs to die, but she's just to strong of an antagonist. Joffrey is still annoying but the Tyrell girl seems to have him under control, and I am quickly starting to hate and despise Tywin (who was my second favorite of the Lannister's at first). I don't usually pirate things, but I am very tempted to pirate Season 4 so I can watch it and then buy it in February once it comes out. However if I do that im just going to be in the same position agonizingly awaiting Season 5.
